Actually if you made money say like a mechanic or facilities electrician, a little over time a couple cs's a 20 % contribution gets you maxed out on you 401k. A little due diligence in your investment strategy after 20 years if your not in good shape you have no one to blame but yourself.

If not cat food is on aisle 16. Think of it as your lucky number

And BTW I haven't read Prez defend the (IAMNPF) even once. Not at all period!!!!

The man has defended the value of having a Pension, he's shared how his retirement is going, he's shared some math and he's shared the same thing I agree with 100%, "DIVERSITY"

I even read him write that he shares the concerns of others here about the IAMPF but everyone ignored that part in their sheer terror that Freddy Krueger has his knives on and is in the Boiler Room.

The IAMNPF is the new Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, Dracula and the Mummy all rolled up into one. LMAO.
Yes Weez and it's coming for you

Gen If he was an electricians apprentice up here he would make more than you . Imagine what a local 3 electrician makes in NY it's crazy and there is plenty of work the only drawback is there probably isn't a forum like this one. The cops where I live in Nassau base about 120,000 the garbage men in the city on doing about $100,000 all have outrageous retirement benefits too. Bob needs to move up here

@P. REZ, @FWAAA,

I found a fund, "AGTHX" look it up http://www.morningstar.com/funds/XNAS/AGTHX/quote.html I took all the data they had from as far back as 2000 to today, simulated a 10% contrabution every 2 weeks for the last 17.5 years, Grand total at the end after yearly fees was $175,405.21, making bigger contributions would be better, but you will have money to live on. The chart and data is from a real world scenario and from a real fund.

There's nothing "outrageous" about a decent retirement.

They base it on a average of the last 3 years salary.So you work as much overtime as possible the last three years.A friend of the family nassau cop retirement is over $100,000 per year thats outrageous .you talk about my house well I pay almost $10,000 a year in taxes and a lot of that is going to county benefits.They all still have defined plans which the county can't afford

Fine you can join me and Bob collecting cans and living under an overpass. Just don't touch my wine

No. See you, me and Bob are going to be quite fine in Retirement Al. We never got on the hook with the Family unit or maybe even worse the never ending Child Support payments. We don't have to worry about maybe even getting stuck taking care of the grandchild too.

Man could I elaborate on ALL those many many many stories I've heard and continue to hear.
