In industries like ours, Unions are not a dieing breed. And I have noticed improvements outside of our industry as well. But Unions needed to change their way of thinking and tactics. Admittedly.

You're saying the unions in our industry are just as powerful as they were when I was hired in 1978 when you were sneaking cigarettes behind the football stands? How many jobs have been lost by outsourcing? When I was hired you had to know someone to get in now you just have to stand in front of a methedone clinic and they will recruit you. fueling was a great job on so was cleaning on and on

He was committed to the members and didn't need to be committed. That's the difference.

They screwed the guy. And even IAM higher ups have said that to me. And sometimes the schmuck still defends them when I talk to him on the phone.

I've verified all of his claims with people. He's not "claiming" anything. He knows and was there.

To me the guy more than "earned" his right to give his opinion. Message board or not. And in or out of our industry he's more Union Brother than most of the people I know who are still in a Union right now.

I'm scrolling through my comments and can't find where ever said he hadn't earned anything. Oops, hold on, I did state he was condescending, but then I don't believe that is a right ever "earned". That's all my comment stated. Oh, and by me using his "tag line" in my remark to robbed should be taken as a backhanded compliment to 700. That is something he has earned.

Yea he's guilty of both. Could also be why I like him since so am I many times. But again Bob nothing personal to you but until you take a few lumps in our industry like all the other posters on this thread have, it's hard for me to take your side on things.

You may not like it but you should understand it.

Anyway the only reason I'm bringing it up is because nothing else is really going on until we get this Friday's next update. All the other talk right now is just spinning wheels.

Great now they will wait 5 years for a sub-par contract that will force them to pay dues and be eligible for food stamps.They will get a pocket calendar and have  the right to #### about the union as well as the company. Union Yes. I believe my sister's union at verizon agreed to a mediator something the company want to do before they struck.. She's been walking the picket line midnight to eight losing her voice every night sometimes people honk and wave as they drive past
