Good for thought. BCBS of Texas is raising rates up to 70% that should be something to discuss bec right now that's our health care
Our company is "Self Insured" they only use BCBS to administer the plans. Plus at least on the TWU side we have contract language that stipulates how much any rates medical goes up for the employer can be passed on to us.

But from the posts AA has made since you're people took over they seem keenly aware that medical insurance is a problem in the US and are trying to do things to blunt the impact of rising costs.

robbed, not sure, but doesn't the Cadillac plan we are covered under basically prevent those kind of increases. I may be wrong,
but I thought those increases were for the general public policy holders and maybe small business (non-union) businesses.

W, was typing as I was, and his explanation is probably more correct than mine...he is the man!

You're correct. And here's a good read out of Texas. Particularly note the last two paragraphs.

Please don't make a 51 YO man blush.

BTW I hope we can finally stop comparing ourselves to non Union Delta people from now on?

We don't have "Ready Reserves" and I doubt we will EVER have ready reserves. And as of yesterday we are making more than them in BASE rates and still have (LAA) a nine year top out scale. As a matter of fact people here in MIA top out in 6 years because the Airport minimum puts them on the third step when they hire in.

Yes W, for the majority here in Dallas, the attitude has been good and many are thankful. I am still a little surprised at the negativity the deal is receiving. I try to explain it as a gift and ALL articles are still open, including pay and still need to be negotiated. We have change in our pocket, and still can vote no if Parker goes drastic with other articles. Hopefully, the "money only" people will have a clearer vision of other articles since their most important part was cashola...If we vote no, you still get this money and your raise in Sept 2017.

I'd like to know if the deal is eventually contingent on is ratifying a JCBA when we finally get the chance to vote on one? Meaning if we don't like the deal would we snap back to $25?

This deal also takes the pressure off our negotiators to hurry up from the members even if we are maybe missing out on some improvements in other areas.

Alright yes the company got some of the synergies they wanted in return for this deal but I still think they want the entire kit and kaboddle to eventually be over with. Remember from the perspective of Parker and I think the other top executives they are still being compensated overall 20 to 30% below their industry peers. As rich as they are right now it's the Capitalist way to always want to be richer.

As for our Negotiators too I'm sure they'd also eventually like to wrap this up and not have to be away from their families so much. I'd have to highly doubt that there's any complete fool who enjoys staying in Hotels, eating Hotel food and racking up Hotel miles? I mean if there was anyone on the negotiating committee who thinks that way that's one selfish bastard who's only thinking about himself and not everyone else.

This is exactly the time /not/ to take your foot off the gas. DP and co. are hoping that's exactly what you will do.

You may make more, but that other shoe's gonna drop sooner or later. IMO, it's critical that you guys (the rank and file) stay engaged.

No this deal is not contingent on anything being approved later with the jcba

Excellent. Very glad to read that. So I was considering saving up one year of this added income to then put down on that new Mustang. August 2017 is now my target date.

BTW CB on a side note. Three of our TWU Presidents were up for reelection at the end of the year. I think anyone who was considering running against them may as well put up the "Gone Fishing" sign now.

I'm sorry for anyone who was thinking about running against them but yea good luck with that.

Members need to consider what they are doing. Some of the ones I'm working with now, they don't want to lose imo.

Again I HIGHLY doubt they'll lose? I honestly wouldn't vote against any of them when they're this far in.

BTW note I used the word "were" instead of "are" in the first comment.

Nothing personal against anybody that is considering to run because I don't know any of them, but we need to stay intact. We are working as a team and don't need any disruptions. I hope my TWU Brothers on the Negotiating team that are up for reelection are successful.
