JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet. **New and improved 2.0 version**

That's a great question, Josh. First off it's a win/win for the company and the IAM members since the company doesn't want the increased liability and wants to avoid the withdrawal fee. A win for the members insomuch that more money will be dumped into their benefits by the company and it won't be limited to just 40 hours a week or 1600 hours a year. $$$.

I wish more people realized the possibilities with this. You don’t just relieve the company of the liability, you use that leverage for an increased “ask” elsewhere in the CBA.

If you want to organize other mechanics, and prove you are not a disaster like when you were at Northwest, you bring back a decent contract for your membership to vote on. Sorry I do have a clue, you're not seeing the big picture. But I am not going to hijack their page to argue with you.
You have no clue driver. I was never at Northwest. Go give the company yout yes vote company boy...

WN is nothing like NW. WN is a relatively young, nimble, well run organization built on teamwork, efficiency and collaboration. NW was an old, broken, strategically limited organization that looked for conflict and confrontation amongst employees and passengers. NW had at best an inferior network and misfit fleet. To my knowledge WN has never put out press releases calling their 1999 build 73Gs “state of the art” like NW did of their A319s...

This board is what we make it.

You see Kev. The board is so dead that even SWA Mechanics are migrating into the only thread still on life support and talking about their issues here.

any guesses on when talks may restart feels like in the 8th inning bases loaded no outs

i believe we are waiting on the company to pass back the association's proposals. after the johnsen show, i'd say what the company passes back will tell us a lot.

aa knows the fine print on it's planned $100 million investment on a 2 hangar maintenance center in brazil. can they get out of it scott-free? otherwise, i don't believe any of their proposals to cut o/h amt jobs will fly with the assoc.

i'd say the company is posturing on money, but will play serious hardball on insurance and o/h jobs.

i was told that if we signed a contract tomorrow and lost deicing jobs, the company will still have deicing shifts in my station for the 2018-19 deicing season.

Why would they pass something back...I thought it was said to be a "take it or leave" proposal.

I think the odds are better than 80-20 that we reach section 6. I personally have given up on any T/A that can satisfy both party's. Too far apart on the main issues imo.

I don’t see Elvira, Hughes or even Fa saying yes to giving up any more of our work personally. Jiminez might be ok with it since obviously he represents S Florida and I don’t know about the other two individuals?

Places where Deicing is no longer going to be worked should get Freight or Fueling as an exchange IMO.

Edit: NYC couldn’t go for the Deicing loss either.

Maybe sort of related to the topic, but I read the Southwest mechanics have finally reached a T.A. to be voted upon. While this is not the first time I have heard of this happening, the union leadership has told its membership to reject the proposal. I am trying to understand why the union would agree upon a T.A. from which it negotiated with the Company, but then urge its rejection? Might someone explain the rationale behind this?
