I think what they mean is that we will not accept a deal from the Company that is sub par and has so many pitfalls just because they’re offering this $$CASH$$ grab to sell the people left behind out.

This buyout needs to be offered OUTSIDE any TA.

And that's a valid point insofar the Company would want the passage of their proposed T.A., and the "hook" to get those with one-foot-out-the-door to support passage. I suspect if the union leadership wanted passage of a T.A., they would want to appeal to the potential swing voters of short-timers with a buy-out, as well.

Just strikes me more as butt-hurt after the Company went public with its proposed T.A., and the Association lashed out with its response outside of the negotiation table.

I think the butt-hurt came from the Company when they walked in with their proposal that went backwards from the direction they were headed and it was totally rejected.

I believe the guy Johnsen did have a meltdown of sorts and stormed out of the talks. I believe on that level it’s very difficult psychologically for those people to be told no and it’s not what they’re used to.
