JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA AMTS

To reference current aircraft mechanic negotiations so all of us at our various companies can be made aware of dollar figures being negotiated , I was told by a southwest guy that their company recently offered $52 an hour but wanted some give backs to go with it and the Amfa nego committee declined it. They will all be getting back to the table the week of July 25 I believe. UAL also back to the table the same week after making some progress in June according to the teamsters.

I think all of our separate company and union negotiations are relevant and we should all be making $52 an hour at SW, AA, UAL

The typical US IAM member.  Afraid of change.  Happy with the way things are, and want somebody else to do "it" for them.
It seems to me that all TWU/IAM groups are stuck with the Association until at least a TA is reached. Then, afterwards, I would think it would make alot of sense to go the same direction as our stews and pilots and instead of our union contracting out its representation to 3rd parties like the TWU, IAM, or even AMFA, why not bring our representation in house to protect our interest as our pilots and stews do? I mean amfa is still a 3rd party Labor Organization.

No update yet, guess the world class nc is still trying to figure out training, holidays and ot....

Another let down of an update. This one laden with excuses. Am I the only one who does not care about seniority in regards to training? It certainly isn't worth dragging things out over.

AA Bargaining Update, July 15

Sisters and Brothers,

The Mechanic & Related/Stores Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of July 11 in Dallas, where we exchanged and dicussed the following articles: Download M&R/Stores update

Field Trips/Travel Pay – MCT: After some contentious exchanges between the parties, we reached a tentative agreement on this article for the MCT group.
Attendance at Training: We exchanged proposals again this week. We have narrowed our positions with one issue outstanding; unfortunately, the company insists that your seniority not be recognized for selection of training.
Holidays – M&R, MLS, MTS & MCT: The company has yet to respond to our proposal on holidays.
Overtime – M&R & MLS: The parties exchanged proposals on this article and have narrowed our differences. We are waiting for the company’s response.
Vacation – M&R & MLS: Your committee presented our initial proposal to the company on this article.
We continue to receive feedback from the membership wondering when JCBA negotiations will be concluded. We have been at the table in direct negotiations with American Airlines for seven months. We ask for your continued understanding that our joint contract bargaining is a very complicated process, which is different from the other large work groups that negotiated agreements at American.

The Association has multiple classifications and multiple contracts to negotiate within those classifications, including: Mechanic & Related, Maintenance Control Technicians, Material Logistic Specialists (Stores), Maintenance Training Specialists, Planners, Quality Assurance Auditors, Technical Documentation Specialists—including LAA Planners—Quality Assurance Auditors, and Technical Documentation Specialists that were not previously represented.

It takes time to combine, write and negotiate entirely new collective bargaining agreements for ALL Association members. As you can see, we continue to move forward and into more significant economic articles. Like all negotiations, we cannot give a date and time when negotiations will be concluded. Your committee remains united, committed and resolute in bringing the JCBAs you deserve. Your continued solidarity, support and patience are imperative to attain this goal.

The committee will reconvene in DFW the week of July 25, 2016. Additionally, the Joint Seniority Integration Committee will meet in Washington, DC next Thursday and Friday to try and resolve any outstanding issues as the result of merging the seniority lists

I do
Training impacts overtime with qualifications here.  Seniority needs to be used, or it will turn into even more of a *$$ kissing competition to get the training to get the overtime or field trip.  By the company not wanting to use seniority it tells me that they want the free for all.  Not into that, so I care.

Fair enough. However I've seen plenty of guys not fleet qualified working overtime. I see your point though.

I can see it going based on station needs, and then seniority within the station. Let's say they have 12 spots of 777 training available; ORD needs guys so they request 6 spots, DFW gets 3 and JFK gets 3, it should then go by seniority for the 6 from ORD, and 3 ea for DFW/JFK. There's no need for someone from PIT getting 777 training if they'll never see the plane, even if they have everyone beat on seniority.

Hey conehead,  this just came out yesterday from our AMFA National.  We've been keeping it quiet until this press release was done.  This is gonna be a pretty big one with SWAPA Pilots, TWU's F/A's and other union groups joining in to show their support and how this has been affecting all work groups at SWA.

Let me just state what 32 years of service tells me. With the other airlines paying the $52, those " represented " by the TWU / IAM ( Association ) will balk at any reduction in force type negotiations and the mechanics will pay for it. Whether it is other work groups, or just plain over staffing, the wages and other monetary compensation will average lower as a certain local president was noted as saying, We will do what is best for the entire membership. Traditionally the labor workforce pays for it's own compensation increases by a loss at some other point in the contract.

Maybe we should just join them on our own! Carry their signs! Start a ripple!
As long as we do not hi-jack their protest with ours. Would that not be a hoot,
TWU, IAM & Teamster mechanic & related supporting our class & craft at a SWA
informational picket. No politics! No raid discussion! No cards being passed!
Just real unionism in action!

"But Archie AMFA is not a union! They are an ASSOCIATION"

I would strongly encourage you guys do the same thing.  Maybe a week or two after ours is done?  You all could do a big one at DFW, we got DAL covered. It would help the media to keep it going in the media. The more the media keeps it going the better responses we all will get from our co's at the tables.
Our work groups have been trying to get together for years. Now we are getting bigger and stronger as more and more groups are coming on board with this labor coalition at SWA. It's about the employees and not the unions.  It does work a lot better this way around, and I would encourage it at all airlines. The co. freaked out when we moved into the Pilots building as a union local office.
