If NWA survives, it should be strong

Chas, it is apparent that you have no idea of how the contract world works. If you wish to know simply ask otherwise keep your ignorance to yourself.

So first you wouldn't clear MEL's (or repair bin doors, I should say) because it was more fun to watch customers walking their bags to the front of the cabin, and now you won't clear NAV light MEL's because you don't like the lift trucks?! What gives?

I thought the bin door thing was funny just let it ride Kev. I have taken a few delays while clearing MEL's, the MEL count is at an acceptable level the delay factor is not. Therefore I choose to let the MEL level ride where it is and do my part in reducing the delay level. MEL's can be scheduled for repair on the RON's, where once you take a delay there is no making up for it.

I wonder if the passengers on that (and subsequent flights share your sense of humor?

By who's standards? Both MTX delays and MEL's are high.

That might be nice in theory....Except that there's hardly any RON MTX performed anywhere anymore, save DTW & MSP. You and I both know how many A/C RON in those stations vs. the rest of the system.

Probably not but I am sure they have gotten over it.

Yes the delays are high but the MEL's are not. I have lost count as to how many times we have been under two hundred. AMFA did it only once. It will have to be at one-fifty before I get excited about it.

You are indeed correct here. My little experiment told the tale of the outstations and RON's. All MEL's were cleared at DTW and MSP. Planning however is on their game for none went past their time limits.

And the number of actual planes NWA is flying now vs pre strike and BK? Less aircraft on the line=less MEL's.......

A baseball player with 20 AB with a .600 avg is far less impressive than one with 300 AB and a .400 avg. This is an anology so "some" of you may understand.

Reduced Schedule, Less Planes, and youre STILL running in the high 100's/low 200's? AND delays are through the roof?

SUPER SCABS TO THE RESCUE!!!

Back to this I see. I thought this had been settled.
15 percent of the flights have been cut.
MEL count has been cut by half.
Number of mechanics have been cut by two-thirds.
There is no maintenance to speak of at the out stations.
Why don't you see if you can tell the whole story, AP.

I am not interested in the number of flights that have been cut, give me an actual number of aircraft which are now flying vs the number of aircraft pre strike or BK. Its a simple question. An increase in block time will easily make up for disposing of an aircraft, so stating flights have been reduced by 15% means nothing.

I believe the majority of mechanics which were cut came from heavy maintenance & shops, and very seldom does heavy clear MEL's. How many mechanics were working line before vs now?

Now stating that there is "no maintenance to speak of at out stations" That poses a question? Just how many maintenance station does NWA currently operate? If its just a handful and you claim the MEL count is falling, how can that be? Just good luck or maybe just ignoring installing the MEL's and flying junk? Maybe need a Pilots opinion?

FWIW, the MEL count stood at 219 as of 0100 this A.M.

Tech Ops must have the amazing ability to do this only on my days off; I think I've seen it dip below 200 only a handful of times.

When this board becomes the SCAB PTO BOARD then you can say that. but as far as I'm concerned, Chas is just as free to say what they want to you on this board just like the rest of us.

I do not know how many aircraft were flying before the strike or are currently in service. I think that Kev could answer this better than I.

Before the strike: 613 total. 350 owned, 263 leased (this includes 137 crjs and 35 ARJ's). 441 total mainline.

Not sure of the current number with all of the lease rejections, retirements, etc, but it's a significantly smaller number.

Thanks, that is what I was trying to get at with the MEL count. No big deal if they go below 200 MEL's as the number of aircraft has decreased significantly.Percentage of MEL's/aircraft has actually increased

Thats because PTO keeps taping them instead of fixing them!
