IAMPF General discussions

And this diatribe has what to do with the topic I posted? Are you incapable of staying on topic and having any type of meaningful conversation?
How does it feel to get high jacked. You made quite the distraction on  every topic we had and now you cry foul? Of course that was the game plan wasn't it!  The  iamnpf subject was beat to death in other topics and to start a new one just on the pension fund is nothing more than a desensitizing approach to plan.

Now,,, how about that Me-Too equity scam that NEVER got resolved?

He will never see it this way. I too have told him this entire time whatever cost the co endures to come to a package will directly reflect the hourly rate.  Some even think that their pensions are "nothing out of their pockets" when in fact it's $2 bucks per hour out of their pockets off the top of hourly pay...

How'd you reach that conclusion?

this is the first step of the twu shrills selling us the pension. get a few intl clowns talking it up (700,nyer and the weaasle) before you know it perception is reality....

Not really. I guess it's a matter on an individuals situation. If you're already invested in a 401K and you have a limited time to add up your dollars then starting over in the IAMPF is probably not a good idea.

However, if you're young or you have 20 years left to go, then you may want to consider putting away in a 401K, without the match, but and also participate in the IAMPF. In that way, you can diversify your holdings and try to better protect yourself from any future situations. It's usually better to spread out your holdings.

see there you go the rationalization of the idea.

I don't want to see the IAMNPF forced onto anyone.  An ideal solution would be one that allows members to opt-in to the retirement scheme of their choice, something that gives multiple options or even a combination of options.  This is what our unions and the company should be working towards.  Those that want to keep their pension should keep it; those that want to retain a 401(k) match should retain it; anyone else should be free to sign up for either, or neither if they prefer.

Precisely. Thanks Chock.

BTW the average US yearly earnings for someone who holds a Masters Degree in 2014 was $68,952. And your BASE currently is about $75,000.

Anyway once again another one of the hundreds of threads on here hijacked and taken off course yet again for the woe is me crowd.
Gee, that would put the pilots salary up there with Gates and Buffett!

You think 75G is sufficient to live in my neck of the woods? I know for a fact that same 75G doesn't go as far in your neck of the woods either!

The IAMNPF comes right out of the member's hourly pay. $2 an hour for $80 a week. So it is costing them $4160 a year. Now to say that US Airways is contributing the $2 an hour on each participant's behalf is misleading.
Suppose your union negotiated $30 an hour. Then they take $2 an hour from your paycheck to fund YOUR pension.....Did the company fund it or did YOU?
Now if your union negotiated $30 an hour and THEN added $2 to fund your pension, that is an entirely different scenario.

There is no payroll deduction from one's paycheck at US for the IAMNPF.

And since you have NEVER been on a negotiating committee, maybe you will understand that EVERYTHING in a CBA has a monetary value, not just retirement.

So give up work in exchange for dollars, thats what you and other mechanics on the line who are AMFA supporters want.

Take from everyone else, but its ok as long as you get yours and more, right?

Semantics....Does it amount to $2 an hour or not?

Its not semantics, its the reality.

Every single item in a CBA has a cost.

I am aware of it. But giving someone X amount of dollars and taking back X amount of dollars to fund something on his or her behalf is a shell game. Why not negotiate an hourly rate and then ADD in the $2?

Oh right, we don't want to be pushy during negotiations.

So advocate to your President that you're demanding geographic pay or a COLA.

You guys supposedly have the ball now you keep saying. So start running with it.
