IAM M&R CONTRACT UPDATE AUG-2013

Not sure if its going from worse to bad or bad to worse good luck to all

Bad to worse, remember Glass was Sr VP of Labor Relations when Al was VP of Labor Relations.

Glass was one executive who did his job and earned every penny of his pay during the BK years at USAir.  Thinking whatever Unions end up representing employees at the new American, time to did into the coffers and ante up some big $$$ to hire negotiators of the same caliber as Glass.  The days of guys from the floor going up against guys like him are long gone....He tore them up the last round!!!

Agree!
But you can't fight these guys with high priced negotiators that are looking out for the internationals interests first...

What may get some company response is when they refuse to negotiate in good faith and the negotiator for the membership looks over at a few members who are sitting in on the process and they immediately leave the room with 60 canceled flights the next AM due to maintenance..Completely hypothetical with an industrial union!

Not true, M&R in CLT stepped up, during Thanksgiving and Christmas, seems International flights had some problems.

Planes in CLT heavy arent making the ETRs, company farmed out a 757 as retaliation.

I have a few questions since you continue to say the IAM is so great and that they are in this to fight for the membership.

What did the IAM do to counter the farm out of that 757 work?

Did that fall under the CBA numbers?

What happened to the mechanics that were doing that work?

If the company is not bargaining in good faith then I assume the Intl. flights are still having problems?

So what is the IAM's plan for the membership if they are allowed to strike?

Do you or anyone else believe they will be released to even start a 30 day count down?

Lots of tough talk from IAM Dist leaders but what is going to happen when they farm out the rest of the work when
the IAM goes out?

Just how many will cross the picket line? Just like NWA? The IAM is loaded with scabs.....

1.The company has the ability to farm out 50% of the billable hours of HMV.

2.See above reply

3.The audit is done once a  year, it should be covered in the 50% allowable billable hours.

4. Mechanics, nothing happened to them as they were all ready three planes in CLT Heavy undergoing overhaul.

5. Dont know at the moment.

6. Dont know the plan, a strike vote will have to take place.

7.  The NMB wont have a choice but to declare an impasse after what the company told the IAM and NMB.

8. No one knows if there will be a strike, and no one knows if the company will impose a CBA that changes the scope language.

You better look whats going on in your own back yard during AMFA's negotiations.

I have asked you to PM with me as to not air my questions here. But you refuse or ignore. Things I have seen on the Natl. web site with your negotiations are questionable as well?

The IAM mechanics need to get involved be a part of the solution, but also look to the future which is NOT with the IAM. They will be joining the rank and file at AA. If they think that US screwed them just wait till they see what is in store for them if we keep this alliance.

i think you are absolutely right about the attorneys. Their main interest is governed by their paycheck. At united airlines, ford and harrison was used to counsel united management, and the iam attorney Ira Gottleib supported the anti union ta and actually wrote an anti union letter to the membership blasting them that if they dont vote for ta2 then there is little else the union can do as he suggested that congress may force a more terrible contract. Gosh i hope delta doesnt get a hold of that letter.

As much as the union leadership makes AH or Jerald Glass the devil, the union leadership of the iam loves these guys and continues to bring substandard agreements to the membership.

As far as striking usairways, lets hope the agcs have a brain and ask the intl for dispensation and demand for a bigger strike benefit than $100 a week.
