IAM M&R CONTRACT UPDATE AUG-2013

Just hoping the IAM members will be allowed to collect PBGC money....I doubt it as some loop hole will be found by the government.  Names been  changed, symbols been  changed, ect, ect....I'm sure the criteria will change that will not allow it!!

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has called on various state congressional delegations to press US Airways to settle its contract dispute with IAM members at the carrier.

The IAM has been in negotiations for the mechanic and related, maintenance training specialist, fleet service and stockroom employees for almost three years. During that time, US Airways has spent the majority of its time and resources with its merger with American Airlines and negotiating terms with American's unions to garner their support for the merger.

"All my constituents want is what is fair, which is an equitable contract and salaries on par with their new co-workers," said Representative Yvette Clarke D-NY. "I urge you to bring a swift conclusion to these negotiations and to resolve this situation in a fair and equitable manner."

"IAM members have been instrumental in building US Airways into the dynamic company it is today," said Representatives Brady, Doyle, Schwartz, Cartwright and Fattah from Pennsylvania. "They seek only to have an equitable contract as you move forward."

Read the letter from the Texas delegation.

Read the letter from the Pennsylvania delegation.

Read the letter from the DC metro delegation.

From PHX IAM LL:

Today US Airways made a donation to Waste Not, a food donation site. It was awfully generous wasn't it? Thanks to all the M&R group for sending the message to the company, "We want a contract - not a free lunch."

Looks like Hemenway isnt happy, too bad:

In a letter to the union, E. Allen Hemenway, vice president of labor relations for US Airways, said he believes the union has a campaign to slow down its maintenance work and refuse to accept overtime assignments.

"If mechanics and related employees collectively engage in the behavior encouraged by these campaigns, it will likely result in flight delays and/or cancellations impacting the traveling public during the upcoming travel holiday season," Hemenway said in the letter.

Union Vice President Sito Pantoja wrote back to Hemenway, denying that the union was behind any such tactics.

IAM Meets with National Mediation Board and US Airways

December 18, 2013

The National Mediation Board (NMB) exercised its authority to call a short notice meeting between the leadership of the IAM and US Airways at the NMB offices in Washington, DC on December 17, 2013 to discuss the status of ongoing negotiations. The meeting was not for the purpose of negotiations that would otherwise occur at the bargaining table, but rather for the purpose of the Board to discuss directly with the parties the current status of negotiations.

We were advised by the Board of a change in mediators assigned to the US Airways cases from two mediators to one for all mediated negotiations. Mediator Walter Darr, who was assigned to the mechanic & related negotiations, will now be assigned to all IAM-US Airways negotiations. We were also advised that the Board intends to schedule future negotiations after the New Year holiday with specific dates yet to be determined.

There is no change in any bargaining position as a result of this meeting; however, it is possible that having the ability to express our issues in the controlled environment of the NMB offices may lead to productive talks when we meet for our next bargaining sessions. We shall see.

All of the IAM wishes to thank the US Airways members for your continued support and solidarity. By sticking together, we
