I just worked with a former "EAST" F/A - Many topics

I'm not worried about my tires... But just to threating or saying " Slashing someones tires" is just WRONG...

MMMMM ok - Why don't you watch the PHX PILOT crew news and then ask yourself why we should or shouldn't blacklist these 2 pilots... And I am so glad that you are personal friends with the "peacemaker" but get real, and get off the kool-aid IV - seriously he has a constant flow of sh+t out of his fingertips.... No-one needs a damn DVD - we need a raise or givebacks not some corporate idiot telling us how we need to get along and send us a lanyard.. Don't forget most everyone at USAir has been through multiple mergers so maybe they could save some money and just make the dvd for the folks out west... In the end, it comes down to what is right and what is wrong; and if you think that for one second i am going to let some little twit-twat write one of my co-workers (east or west) up for walking past the exit row you are crazy.... As a matter of fact we might just have to junior him into the A position and nudge him past the exit row and write him up... Be very careful, because you might just be the one to cross that forbidden little line that you cant cross ooohhhhhhh... You all are out of your mind.... Especially those looney tunes pilots.... No drinks for them....

As far for going past the exit row... I dont... due to its required that I dont by MGT..... I just dont. I also dont write flight attendants up........ No matter what way you look at it... I just dont do that.... I'm not for pushing any member of a crew... That's touching a crewmember and can get you (FIRED)..... Anyhow... as far as Pay...

West Flight Attendants with 1-9 years of service are among the lowest paid in the industry- period. Lower than airlines half our size. Lower than airlines with less revenue and less profits and less cash-on-hand. Those with 14 years-of-service and more have not received a raise since November, 2002.

Trust me... WE WANT/NEED pay raises.... We are paid almost as low as regionals...

WE also know about how management refuses to recognize that flight attendant sacrifices need to be repaid.

WE also know that negotiations have been largely unproductive with even simple non-economic issues unresolved.

So its not like we are taking a blind eye... And we are on the same page... However we are not for pushing anyone around....

Also Jet would never write someone up... He was only talking about the ACE program... And only informing that a passenger might write you up. Just as a friendly reminder... To keep you informed... That's all. :D

NO... I dont drink Kool aid... At least if its not purchases from the Grocery Store.   :D

I guess all Great Dictatorships have their ways!

Which f/a is not permitted to go beyond the exit row and why? Is this policy, not a FAR, correct? What possible reason could there be for such an arbitrary rule?

Wonder if they'll employ electrified training collars to zap the disobedient f/a that goes past an exit row in order to assist a customer in peril? :p

No way is it an FAR, otherwise we'd all have to comply. I imagine the reason for this would be so that the F/As would be closest to their assigned primary and secondary exits.
Westies,
What is your emergency preparation policy? We put on our uniform jackets and proceed to the forward galley with our manuals for T.E.S.T. info and synchronize our watches. How do you get together to plan for land/water emergencies if you can't pass the wing?

I believe you are right and West has made into policy their interpretation of this FAR. Policy can be changed.
:cop: :cop:This is from the FAA site:

204. AIR CARRIER OPERATIONS BULLETIN NO. 1-94-3

DISTRIBUTION OF FLIGHT ATTENDANTS

(Formerly Air Carrier Operations Bulletin No. 1-76-10).

Section 121.391 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) stipulates that flight attendants must be uniformly distributed throughout the operation of flight. This includes when the aircraft is parked at the gate, during movement on the surface, takeoff, and landing. The most important part of this requirement pertains to placing flight attendants in locations that will provide the most effective egress of passengers in the event of an aircraft evacuation.

a. The purpose of this requirement is to avoid having several flight attendants congregated in a sparsely occupied compartment, such as first class, when most of the passengers are grouped, or have grouped themselves, in some other compartment having only one flight attendant on duty in that compartment.

I have not seen a sparsely occupied compartment in a very long time! ;)

I think being near the front of the aircraft has to do with they feel that it will be safer if we are toward the front of the aircraft. They feel that it is better served if we are toward the cockpit if something happens.... WE can only go to the exit row. We can go past if there is a medical emergency. But they would rather us be up front to relay info to the pilots. ALso for other measures. Also they feel that being close to the 1L/1R door is good in case we have an emergency to get TEST info.

I dont like this rule... but its a rule I deal with. Alot of us think this rule is odd but we comply.

As far as the ACe Program... Its for Customers to see if we are doing our job. US Airways put it in place to make sure all customer service jobs are following the same procedures accross the board (that's what the memo said). Alot of employees feel its a scare. To me its a moral buster... I do my job great... and I dont like being micromananged... I love not having a boss over my shoulder... I have 134 customers that do that. ;) Most FA's do an excellent job but there is always a few bad apples.

Anyhow... AS far as the door procedures... I hate it for you but you guys/gals are going to it. Not saying HaHA... but its not as bad as you would think.... It does cut down door/slide deployments and has cut our slide/deployments down.... Which is good for all of us (FA) Where we dont get a month off without pay. :D So I felt it was a joke also. But actually its nice. However there are flaws...(To tell you the truth) As in everything. You need to actually be thinking about the procedure rathern then just going though the motions... Becasue you can say (what you are required to say, But, if your just going though the motions and your attention can easly be distracted and you say its good (when her/his hand is on the orange handle of the airbus) ****YOUR SCREWED*** So I try to remember this... GREEN IS GOOD******ORANGE/RED IS BAD******
