Thanks for something to laugh about before my layoff, that is classic!

Argue all you want, the bottom line is that so many people will be on lay-off, that there will be no vote for at least three years! At that point, assuming U stills flies, and we haven't lost more numbers, the members will be LONG past caring about their union!

Hence, no vote for AMFA. The IAM rules!

The IAM Mechanic and Related NEVER voted on a contract in 1998, there was a T/A voted down in June of 99 and then a new T/A was reached and ratified in October of 99.

And 50 Utility would not does not make a differance in a vote when there are 2,000+ mechanics and only 50 utility and even if all utility were wiped out you still have stock clerks, planners, material services, QA, MOC and Tech Docs, around but mechanics outnumber every group.

And PIT Mtc is taking bigger hits then CLT so please explain how that is saving PIT when they layoffs of mechanics are double then CLT?

"The IAM Mechanic and Related NEVER voted on a contract in 1998, there was a T/A voted down in June of 99 and then a new T/A was reached and ratified in October of 99."

Your right, I was wrong about the date.

"And 50 Utility would not does not make a differance in a vote when there are 2,000+ mechanics and only 50 utility and even if all utility were wiped out you still have stock clerks, planners, material services, QA, MOC and Tech Docs, around but mechanics outnumber every group."

700, once again, every mechanic and utility member, whether on furlough or active status, is eligible to vote in any AMFA/IAM election. This means that the 4,000 + now furloughed will be included in the 50% plus 1 required by the NMB. The active head count going up or down is meaningless as far as they are concerned.

"And PIT Mtc is taking bigger hits then CLT so please explain how that is saving PIT when they layoffs of mechanics are double then CLT?"

Did you read the post before you replied? I never said anything about saving PIT! What I’m saying is that the “Farting Machinistâ€￾ pushed YOU and a couple thousand other members overboard to save their own “ Assesâ€￾. They know they are history if AMFA gets a shot at U S Air again.

I don’t think they’ll get a second chance, but if they do, there is not enough morons like Delldude around to save their corrupt asses, and they know it!!!

Were the 142 members offered an early out? I went through the last best offer for 142 and did not see one. At our station the hot topic is why the CWA members can sign up for their e/o while the IAM FSA continue in the dark.
Our speculation is that the company is waiting to see how many $'s are spend on that particular work group before moving on. Therefore the question, are we just waiting on the CWA or is it 142 plus CWA?

Thank you

The mechanic and related got no early out, the CWA reached an agreement over a month before you got a final offer from the company.

142 is mechanic and related not fleet service, fleet service is 141, and there is an early out in your final offer, the company are the ones who come out with the paperwork, not the union.

But is he wrong about the furloughs and that they are part of the 50%+ that needed to sign cards in invoke an election?

Makes you wonder why utility were left on property

usairways_vote_NO.... This information, put out by AMFA, give the numbers of eligible voters active and furloughed in 2003.

July 31, 2003

U.S. Airways Representational Campaign Update

An in-depth analysis of the U.S. Airways representational campaign was completed this week at the AMFA Administration Office in Laconia, New Hampshire. The following are the results of that analysis.

Mech active 5728 furloughed 3225 = 44%

Utility active 1900 fuloughed 1110 = 42%

Planners act. 147 furloughed 120 = 9%

MOC active 70 furloughed 40 = 43%

TOTALS active 7845 Furloughed 4505

We were able to determine that approximately 367 had retired, quit, resigned, or were terminated. This reduced the total eligible voters to 7478 U.S. Air employees in the Mechanic & Related Craft or Class.

AMFA's policy requires that 60% or 4487 of the eligible US Air employees sign an authorization card requesting AMFA representation. As you can see, nearly 100% of all active employees would have to sign before we could petition the National Mediation Board to hold an election.

NMB rules state that furloughed employees are eligible and retain the right to vote in representational disputes. Because of the deep cuts suffered by the Mechanic & Related work force, the U.S. Air campaign will be an extremely hard task to complete.

Currently U.S. Air has 47% signed authorizations on file at AMFA National. However, a very large percentage of these authorizations will expire in August and September of this year.
Sincerely,

Terry Harvey
Assistant National Director
