Reserve and loving it.
Just got the latest update via email. In a nutshell, the arbitrator ruled that the company violated the AFA/AWA contract with the changes they made to the employee pass travel program following the merger with US Airways. For remedy, he ordered the company to return to the pass policies that existed for Flight Attendants prior to the changes made in September of 2005.

I, for one, am not exactly jumping up and down over this. I've gotten used to the way we do it now and it's actually nice to know where you are on the list ahead of time.

Entire decision can be read here-
Pass Travel Decision

Now we can all sit back and watch the idiots in Tempe try to fix this mess without violating the east agreement. When will they learn
that they have to negotiate changes to contracts, east or west?

Hey, all you management types that read this, the west FA's would be more than willing to let you keep things status quo, in exchange we'll take pay parity with the east. :)

and there you have it...

HP: subverting the fundamental precepts of DOH...one labor group at a time...

I whatever anyone prefers now as opposed to when this grievance was filed is not the point. The point is the company continues to be disrespectful to all of us and ignores our contract. This was a contractual issue for PHX flight attendants and they changed it without negotiationg it away. Hopefully this will give all of us as a group some leverage!

Ok so the remedy is status quo ante. Is this even possible?

Does Shares have the ability to build a nonrev standby list by two different methods depending on the flight and workgroup.

How about the rest of the employees who have settled this issue. Do flight attendants trump all groups nonrevving on flights? Does this mean that the company will block their registered guests and they have to pay for excess baggage and pets or will the FAs complain that they want all good and no bad?

Flying,

My questions exactly. This is yet just another fine mess that the geniuses in Tempe have got themselves into. My guess it that the company will have to give us something we want to keep things the way they are. Hint, pay parity works for us.

The idea that something such as this is even part of the collective bargining process shows what real problems unions have.
To many trees to see the forest!

I agree...a Pay Parity for West FAs would be nice...to make it fair..maybe give the East FAs their 100% DH pay? That way all FAs would be on an equal financial playing field.

This is probably the big exciting announcement referenced in the other thread.

Frist Come First Served was nice but open to alot more abuse and favoritism at the gate and NOT that much of an issue anymore and I am relatively junior by the standards of either work force.

I also feel for the gate agents who will now have to contend, along with everything else that they go through, with returning to administrating two different types of lists depending on the flight number at the gate.

One step forward two steps back.

I only wish that we could use this as leverage for pay, but now may be farther away from it. My union takes my dues and fights for my.......... Flexi Passes.

I am paralyzed with gratitude at their ability to correctly prioritize what really adds to my quality of life.

Definately!!! I'm on the list to receive the email updates from the West AFA and when I first read it, I thought oh how nice, now it's really going to be a cluster and the company is going to make all of us pay for this. But after reading Cactusflyer and HPJack's response I'm actually glad this happened and hope it works to the PHX/LAS based fa's benefit in negotiations.

Oh c'mon now, you mean 40 buddy passes doesn't add to your quality of life? ;) While a win is a win and I think we should take them when we can, it would be nice if our MEC was a little more in touch. Hopefully, this thursday will bring about a change in officers and we'll have people in place that will actually communicate with us. Mary and Gary better dust off their uniforms and get ready to bid!

After reading the ruling: It looks like the AWA FA's will go back to the old way. 40 flexi passes priced much higher that the current system. I don't see how the company will be able to implement this for one work group. Maybe this will bring Management to the table finally.
