As the holidays fall upon us we all need to remember the wonderful checks our top executives cashed in. I spoke to Doug in an airport and can assure you he will do nothing to help your wages. I have never felt so disrespected in my whole life. All of us need to stand together and send a message

Did you ever wonder what kind of message you need to send?

I can only say that they will only understand this kind of aggressive behavior.

Just do your JOB no matter how long it takes…………….

sky high states: THIS ISSUE is between labor and the company. The UPCOMING HOLIDAYS should not be used to jeopardize the HOLIDAYS FOR THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of people who bought a ticket.

WHY SCREW THEM?????

only stating opinions.

Thanks Doc,

Stick it to the customer over the holidays--good plan. That'll show Doug.

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.....

Not to mention the fact that any action over the holidays will bring the public's wrath to all employees not just the executives.

The resulting revenue drop could, in effect, destroy the very pay increase you want.

All of us need to stand together and send a message

Will you kindly tell us where you work so we can do our best to screw you in regards to the holidays?
You're not getting anything else until 2012 so get over it. No matter what you do, it isnt going to matter. The other alternative is to try to find something outside the airline business to make more money. I would like to suggest some employees seriously look into this alternative and talk to some fellow employees who have moved on and see how green things are on the other side.
In the meantime, why on earth do you want to screw the customers AND your fellow employees who will have to clean up your sh*t? The big guys are going to be enjoying the holidays with their families and arent going to care what you're up to. The only people who do care are the ones who pay your paycheck and have to work with you. Keep up the good work!

Care to share with us what Doug had to say and the message
that you think should be sent. Inquiring minds would like to know.

Sorry folks, but I kinda see Doc's point.

No one wants to ruin a passenger's trip, but being screwed by management time and time again eventually leads up to either a job action or a devil-may-care attitude toward attendance and/or job performance.

Some of us who go above and beyond daily may honestly need to reevaluate our zeal and consider represssing our Superperson tendancies and replacing them with the bare minimum, yet adequate performance.

Management wants "cost neutral". Maybe we should consider "effort neutral" in response. The desire to avoid "profit neutral" might spur Tempe into action. Stockholders don't keep executives when the stock becomes "value neutral".

According to Wally in Dilbert's world, management wanted to increase his responsibilities and decrease his compensation. Wally responded by increasing his insolence and decreasing his productivity. "Equilibrium restored!"

Since some posters have taken the defeatest position that there will be no wage discussions until amendable date for the East 2012, then there is no incentive for labor until 2012. After all, I still believe folks work at U to make a decent, affordable living when the company is doing well, which U is. There are transition negotiations going on...and the defeatest attitudes will gain you "0" until 2012, and probably only more shuffling around of "cost ueutral. Why? Because folks have come to the belief and conclusion to accept it and find additional work else where to supplement. Only problem is, most of the labor jobs in this industry are in shifts that are unpredictable from month to month.

Therefore, I would agree with your post.

This sort of reminds me of the old saying, "whether the stone hits the pitcher or the pitcher hits the stone, its going to be bad for the pitcher".

If the employees wishing to disrupt the operation of the airline and cause pain and misery for the passengers are successful, then the customer service people will get it even worse.

And if those employees causing the problems are really successful, then all the employees will get it in the end again and senior management will just get some P.R. folks to get their spin going on it and walk away with their millions...again.

This whole union concept of respect is just stupid! Pro atheletes who make millions use it all the time too. And how did Doug screw you by selling his AWA stock? You guys do not have a clue!

Actually, I wasnt saying keep your airline job AND find additional work. Just find another job period.
If you're going to make my job hell by doing sh*t work, then seeya. If you are doing the best you can with what you have, then its another story, but to intentionally try to make things bad (which the customer service people are going to end up getting screwed almost as bad as the customer) then just do us a favor and go, stay home and enjoy the holidays with your family, but dont make it worse on those of us who actually want to take care of our customers and show them that US can be a good airline. And FYI, unless the CWA/IBT have major plans they havent announced, the last thing I heard is no contract opening except the last items needed to come to terms to get a single contract which means no additional compensation until 2012. No defeatism here, just passing on what I have been told by my CWA local Prez.

2012? Call in sick and relax....

Unbelievable!

Doc, the most important thing in anyone's life is their family. Thanksgiving and Christmas are meant to be shared with family. I heartliy encourage anyone with ANY sense at all to share these most important days with their families. All 24 hours of each of these days.

You've got it exactly correct Doc. Anyone who works for LCC, whether it be ramper, pilot, flight attendant, gate agent, etc... needs to respect the company precisely as much as the company respects them. Needs to respect their job as much as the company respects their job.

Anyone who reports to work on these most important family holidays, giving up priceless time with children, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.... just plain doesn't get it.

You aren't working for Herb Kelleher or someone who repects and values employees. You're working for a company who doesn't repect employee OR customers. The ONLY thing the company respects is money. It's way past time for the employees to start costing the company money. And costing them customers will cost them money. As regrettable as that is. So be it.

I can't believe some of the posts I'm reading here.

Pure stupidity.

As I said at the beginning:

Unbelievable!

BINGO...you hit the jackpot. So if Doug has his Millions, and the employees have squat that's all just fine...In Dougs world that is. No respect by the company towards the employees = No respect towards the company or it's top Management from the employees. If Doug and his boys are sitting at home over the Holidays counting their pile of cash, I say make them sweat a bit while they are doing it.
If this company wants to be more like SWA, why don't they finally start treating their employees like SWA does. How can all of these management teams keep ovelooking the basic simple fact that a Happy employee equals a productive employeee???? Did they stop teaching that simple fact when these CEO's get their MBA's..
Remember what Doug said, it's not like we want career people around here anyway. Many of you may as well face the hard cold fact that what you are earning at this Airline isn't top dollar anyway, and if they fold up you can go elsewhere for nearly the same wage...and maybe even a bit of respect by your employer. Doug has put his foot and his Millions in his mouth too many times already with some of his statements.
Keep things going in the current direction with bottom of the barrel new hires, and you will have the PHL syndrome systemwide. This is what they want, so give them what they are asking for. The comapany wants to rid itself of all those pesky senior dedicated career people in favor of $9 an hour goons. ;)
