Health Care Reform

UPSP never had any issues. Sending a letter across the country for 44 cents seems pretty reasonable to me.

IRS. I pay my taxes and have never had any issues with them. I have heard of abuses though and that does need to be dealt with.

DMV. Just wen to get my registrations on the 30th. Took 20min or so. Lots of people there since it was the end of the month. I thought I would be there for at least an hour (brought a book) and I was not even able to complete a chapter. Lady was really nice and the whole transaction took all of 5 min. Never have had an issue with them either but maybe I'm just lucky that way.

FDA is a joke. I think a strong argument could be made that the FDA runs a pay to play enterprise.

You have missed a few other government programs such as law enforcement, education, safety services such as police, animal control, CPS and other government programs such as the military.

I am still waiting for reform ideas other than the ones presented so far. I gave my idea in a previous thread Or it might have been in this one. The existing system does not work. It is an abysmal failure. The insurance companies, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies are making a killing off of us. The current system is broken. The republicans had 6 years to make changes. They chose not too. the previously mentioned companies have had decades to change. They chose not to. Now the dems are in charge (at least for two more years but probably more given the state of the RNC) and they are seeking to make changes. I do not agree with all the changes but it's a start.

Unfortunately the people of this country are short sighted, greedy and selfish. Why worry about public transportation ... gas is cheap. Why worry about clean air or clean water? Why worry about anything in the future when everything right now is hunky doory. Well, now we need public transportation and the cost of starting up a new system is phenomenally expensive. But if we do not start now it will be even more expensive later on. Overhauling our health care will be phenomenally expensive. How ever in my opinion, it will be far more costly the longer we wait.

As with most things. Pay now or pay morel later. Not sure why people cannot figure this out.

he other thing that bugs me is the disingenuous arguments/scare tactics/misdirection/out and out lies being used by both sides to promote their goals. I cannot help but wonder if there is some sort of genetic mutation that cause politicians/CEO's/corporations to lie through their teeth.

USPS ? Hmmm.................seems like Fed Ex and UPS do a better job imo. Of course the private sector businesses always seem to !

IRS? I say abolish this "Behemoth Abomination" right now and implement the "Fair Tax", so that ALL people pay their fair share of taxes !

DMV ? Again , I'm sure a private sector company would do a superior job !

FDA ? Another joke !

Obama Care ? Just another leash , for Big Brother, to attach to your collar !

The last time I wanted to get it there overnight...and it cost about $20.
Which is the same overnight costs (if not more) with USPS.

reminder...

A $4 billion bailout for the Postal Service?

and who can forget the infamous quote...

“UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.â€￾ — Barack Obama, Aug. 11, 2009

Blah, Blah, Blah BULL STUFF

Logic & Common sense would dictate that a government sponsored Health Care Program qouls only be run as well as the most efficient Government agency.

Well...glad you brought that up...interesting article in Newsweek this week where they quoted Dr. Steven Nissen, the chief of cardiovascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. According to this doctor guy, who apparently has enough logic and common sense to justify him heading up the cariovascular department at one of the most renowned medical facilities in the world, here's a little fun fact:

the overhead for private insurers is 29 percent. For Medicare, it's 3 percent. If what's left over is what you can spend on patients, I think 97 percent is a much better deal.

You missed the point. I have no need for the birthday card to get there over night. The check for the magazine subscription does not need to be there over night either. Are you going to send it UPS or USPS?

There is a reason FedExand UPS are not in the first class mail business. There is a reason that no one else has come up with a better business plan to send a letter for $.44 across the country or next door. There is also a reason that no one else is competing with AmTrak. Some things are not 'efficient' by business standards but are still needed by the public.

If thats supposed to be some kind of reasonable argument, its complete nonsense and lacks anything resembling intelligence.

When outside companies create a model that works efficiently and makes a profit there is absolutely no reason why the government can't do it as good or cheaper or they should go under like anyone else.

Subsidizing losing propositions is what the government does best at its worst.

HooRah for healthcare!

You missed the gist of my post. I was agreeing with you...

What is SSI for..........somewhere I missed the boat on its purpose....can you enlighten me?
It is yet another one of those stupid government programs that people rail against...

while collecting the check.
