I think that's a conflict of Interest for him to be a president of a union you guys/gals at twu have no worries that he is a company spy here at brown we have true union members

is the AA mgr involved in a role that is related to labor?

If so, then many companies would say it is a conflict of interest to have someone in mgmt. working for a competitor or supplier or client in an area where the two overlap.

if the work areas are not related, there is not necessarily a conflict of interest.

Idiot. What a waste of bandwidth.

If it's such a problem, don't re-elect him to office.

There's a long history of married couples working at AA in both union and non-union positions. One of the managers over the loadhouse is married to a TWU dispatcher. I've met both of them, and don't think they're exactly conspiring at home on how to screw over the union.

It even goes further if you want to look close enough. Stephen Wolf (former CEO of UA) was married to a SVP at AA. She finally decided to retire when he was named chairman of the board. There's currently a very senior VP at AA whose sister is either a MD or a VP at UA.

Why does this sound like one of the twu bubba club is feeding a reamster info lately. If you don't work for aa or usair it shouldn't make any difference to you brown. This sounds very similar to chicken little bringing the reamsters in for a fake card drive. Just another industrial union doing the bidding for another industrial union. As I recall he was married along time before he became president of 591. If the membership didn't like it they would have not elected him.

Being married to a former manager not a big issue. The fact he interviewed for management more the twice means his heart really isn't in to the union. It's more like he wants a title and a position. While others bad mouth other union local officials for going in to management at least they made a choice on which side of the fence their on.

There's plenty of openings in management now...They're hiring a lot of supervisors system wide.

ok so your problem is that management didn't like him. That sounds like a positive to me.I would think that as much as he has pissed the twu int off and the company I don't think that he would chance it again. I would bet that fat bastard or gless would call in some markers that the company owes them for past favors to get a management position since they lost there cush gig and lets not forget vanderloo and the rest of the appointed chupacabras. Lets face it videtich and gless have become very used to the high life and a pay cut very well could put them in financial distress.

No problem that management didn't want him. The point is why would he put in for management so many times if he is so pro-union? Now he is leading the largest group of AMTs in to a JCBA process, maybe he will do what you accused DV and Gless of roll over to get a management favor? The point is he is obviously in it for him and not us. It seems like the best station in the system for union members is MIA. Knapp would be a much better President of 591 in negotiations in my opinion.

There was a VP of local 514 who when he was voted out of office became a manager and went to Alliance.  His name was Michael Jackson and he was manager of the 767 for a while.  This was a normal occurance in local 514.  We had another 514 officer Dennis Quish who went to HR with the law school degree that the TWU paid for after an unsuccessful run for local president.  The bottom line is that if the union is paying for the education then the traitor that goes to management should have to pay the union back but that is not the case.  You should be knocking the TWU for this not the guy who is trying to make more money for his family.  If we have learned anything in the past dozen years it is that management will always cash in while they deny the TWU basic things.  Maybe if the TWU took better care of it's members they wouldn't want management jobs.
