"flu Vaccine, Unavailable" !

You're right to a point. The open question is what will be the quality of the work found? Especially if you are 50 with a HS Diploma and 30 years experience slinging bags. Not that there is any disgrace in handling bags, but really where you gonna find a job with a limited skill set?

It upsets me that a few posters are trying to scare others by implying they will simply wither away and die without U. With the current situation at this company, some, not all would probably be better off with another job.

To those who are 50+, they are still able to be retrained in other professions. There are options out there and no one should be afraid to take all the help that will be available to them to transition into other careers. I'm not saying it will be easy, but then again, it may not be as bad as some posters are trying to imply either.

With the unavailability of flu vaccine, the flu is VERY likely to strike hard this fall/winter.

Experts say that workers here, especially in the northeast, will be "hit with a VENGENCE", on 11/25, 11/28, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/1/05 !!!!!!!

(Good thing folks have sick time available, to cover lost time)........

Sure there is retraining into other careers that may be available but what is not being mentioned is the beginning salary for that new career is going to be a shocker to those that took the advice of some on here. Sure, there will be some that fall into a nice paying job with bennies but the vast majority are going to have a very difficult time even with job training.

Just some advise to those here...there are jobs there! Just have to be flexable and approach it with eyes wide open. I have another job lined up which I start in Feb. making more than I was making here before the pay cuts. Dont sell yourselves short....believe it or not...airline people are valuable assets to many other companies.

Congratulations West Coast, wish you and all others that have all ready made the move all the best in your new endeavors.

It is a fact that there is a shortage of flu vaccine...That is not a fabrication...Verifiable with the CDC...

It is also true that the holidays are a stressful time of year...suicides are even very high during the holidays....Stress can make you sick...The airports are understaffed on a good day..let alone bad weather and the crammed airports at holidays....Stress caused by small paychecks with bills already on the way cause stress.....STRESS...STRESS...STRESS...STRESS.....

Some companys in other business like department stores, discount stores, Post Office, UPS hire additional staffings for the crush at holiday time....

The airline..this airline will not do that...The short staffed airports and reservation centers will have the extra crunch without additional help as they operate on a skeleton crew staffing on a good day....

If you are sick, stay at home....You do no good to spread the germs to your other co-workers...

I understand there's a flu bug, comming soon.

Let Daddy Warbucks check in customers............
