With the unavailability of flu vaccine, the flu is VERY likely to strike hard this fall/winter.

Experts say that workers here, especially in the northeast, will be "hit with a VENGENCE", on 11/25, 11/28, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/1/05 !!!!!!!

(Good thing folks have sick time available, to cover lost time)........

Now NH/BB, you wouldn't be trying to imply anything would you? Surely not!!! he he he
I just can't imagine why 90% of our workforce is out sick!

NH/BB, I'm sure you are aware that a sickout is an illegal job action, and you being part of it means you can go to jail.

Worse than being illegal, IMHO, is that it's evidence of having poor work ethics.

I may be anti-union, but I do respect individual union workers who show up and do their job well. I do not have respect for people like you who try to incite job actions, especially when a job action at this time would kill the airline.

I like flying US Airways. People like you who want to destroy 20,000 jobs and one of my favorite airlines really piss me off.

No Union is going to call for a sick out, and no individual will ever go to jail for using their sick time.

Screw work ethics at this point. The company has shown that they don't give a rats ### about their employees and liquidation is the most likely scenerio.

Look at the proposals now offered to the IAM and CWA. IAM members would only get paid $7.60 per hour while sick and CWA members would get $6.81 per hour. This is a slap in the face. It's no wonder agents are using their days now while they can still get about $16 per hour.

OOOO! I'm sure NHBB is quaking in his boots. Particularly, since he's retired from AA, not U. What are they gonna do? Take his shuffleboard stick away from him?

Yes, and I loved flying on Eastern. I still have my Ionosphere Club luggage tags. But, ya know, I managed to move on after they closed up shop.

I suspect there will be many people with the flu around Thanksgiving, X-mas and new years -right?

if there is say a higher than normal sick calls during the holiday season is it possible that the clowns of ccy would come after the ones sicking out or everybody?

Is it against the law to get sick on the wrong day?

Now why would someone who works for another airline try to start a sickout??

JS,

I think you need some clarity. If there was a "sick out", it is not the individual who would go to jail (that's obsurdity).

The illegal ramifications lie with the unions, and if they had anything to do with initiating a strike that was considered "wild cat", like a sick out. There are punitive damages that a company could file if they could prove such an action was promoted endorsed or sanctioned by the unoins.

There is absoulutely no such thing that would be endorsed by the unions.

No union is looking for the demise of our airline.....NONE. "sick outs" are illegal.

For those of you who know you are going to be out sick for the holidays, I suggest you spend some money and have a good Christmas with you families and go out and buy a big turkey for Thanksgiving with all the work. Same with New Years, throw a big party for all you "sick" co-workers. All the passengers you strand behind and make never come back will do just that, never coma back. And when your out on the street with no company, you can do two things for sure, blame managemen (which is what you always do) and brag about how much of a good time you had these last holidays while you still had a job.
