Fll Announcement On Monday At 10:30

It takes months for new city pairs to become profitable. I just don't see how we can add all this point-to-point stuff and stay in business. Some of these seem very seasonal??? I hope it works.

Oldie-

For goodness sakes, if you can't be positive for ONE lousy minute, just get
out of it. The industry in a mess, change happens.......if you don't like
it, darn, get out!!!!!

I for one love that we are trying to do something positive and "people"
like you just have to bring it down to that level again.

Life = Choice, if you don't like it, change it. Don't ruin it for us younger ones
that just might want to try to make change happen.

I am sure your a nice person, but give up the bad attitude, life is
way to short!!!

Just my vent.......

I think this is why it's not starting until February. It leaves ample time for bookings to accrue on those flights and for the schedules to be set.

i think it wonderful to see they want to build up fll and rebuild jfk! I always thought we did great out of JFK. besides, jfk would be excellent for the star alliance feeder to a large number of our cities! i wonder if they would eventually add a fll-abe flt since a large number of our pax all day long go between abe and fll.

From what I can tell, only US and UA serve FLL, no other Star carriers. I wonder if we might ever see a seasonal FLL-FRA flight given US has feed on the FRA end now. And, yes, US needs to serve JFK if for no other reason than to take advantage of the Star Alliance. At least a few E170 flights from major cities.

Who first reported on this website the company would expand service to Guatemala City, Panama City and San Salvador?

Was it that 25-year vet?

Don't break your arm trying to pat yourself on the back.

The company filed for route approval with the DOT before you ever proclaimed to tbe the prophet of US Airways.

ITRADE, care to comment?

There are a number of plans that are beginning to be announced and the Fort Lauderdale focus city/min-hub is just one of them.

LGA station personnel have been briefed by management that the TP could increase mainline service from 42 to about 150 daily flights, and that excludes the Shuttle. During off-peak hours, the EMB-170 may be put on the Shuttle, which would make the Shuttle profitable, while Delta will continue to lose money with their B737-300s.

The US Airways Flight Department and Ops Engineering are working on expanded JFK flying with three separate marketing plans: Caribbean expansion with B757/A320 family aircraft, Star alliance feed, and 90-seat RJ flying. The company's current proposal to ALPA is to place the CRJ-900s at PSA and the EMB-190/195s at MDA, which would have a competitive cost structure with JetBlue. The intent is to use these resources to fight JetBlue at JFK.

In addition, if the company avoids bankruptcy, the airline is going to announce new service to European Star Alliance hubs from Philadelphia, with potential new destinations of Vienna, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Birmingham. The company is also evaluating new service to Geneva/Zurich and Milan, however, Athens may not go on the list because marketing believes the yields are to low.

US Airways does not want to increase system wide capacity and ASM’s until February, around President’s Day, so the airline doesn’t increase flying during the slow travel season.

None of the FLL routes are seasonal. They all have consitent, year-round demand.

I wonder if they will put maintenance in FLL since they are bumping up the flights.

I know over the years they have wanted to just close MIA and relocate everyone to FLL, but contractually they cannot without abolishing everyone in MIA and putting the FLL jobs up for bid.

This is one of those instances where inane, antiquated work rules kill the company's ability to efficiently adpat to market place changes. You are talking 26.6 miles between FLL and MIA. So you want to move mechanics to where they flying is? Not that easy. Abolish, post new bid, award new bid, give time to move. They could move all the stock and mechanics in a day if it weren't for the contract.

Rules are rules, but I know you are an anti-union Bush loving Republican.

Rules are rules, I don't see you making a big deal out of the company breaking the rules.

Yeah, rules are rules even if they suck. Even a child can tell that they don't make any sense, but since it is in our favor, then we say "Rules are Rules".

Way to go.

This is just great, great news.

WE ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!

And who was the FIRST to tell you all that?
