Oldie-

For goodness sakes, if you can't be positive for ONE lousy minute, just get
out of it. The industry in a mess, change happens.......if you don't like
it, darn, get out!!!!!

I for one love that we are trying to do something positive and "people"
like you just have to bring it down to that level again.

Life = Choice, if you don't like it, change it. Don't ruin it for us younger ones
that just might want to try to make change happen.

I am sure your a nice person, but give up the bad attitude, life is
way to short!!!

Just my vent.......

THANKS! My exact sentiments.....Seems like nobody here wants to believe anything good will happen. If this FLL thing is true, it will be fantastic for the CO and MORALE of the employees......<G> I look forward to Monday! :D

not negative, just a realist. How would you know what my affiliation to UAIR is, anyway? Been hearing FL crewbase rumors since they shut down MIA. I'll believe it when I see it. Crew bases cost money, something these guys SAY they don't have.
Just my reply to your vent.

You cannot make money if you don't spend it. It's going to cost a lot to open up stations in KIN, PTY, GUA, and SAL, but it is money that will be well spent.

It is my understanding that US Airways is negotiating to return mainline service to JFK. The company is working with the PANYNJ to begin point-to-point service to many Caribbean, Central American, and domestic destinations. In addition, MDA is could operate head-to-head against JetBlue with the EMB-170 and 90-seat RJs, presumably both the EMB-190/195 and the CRJ-900, both of which could be part of ALPA's new agreement with the company.

The current ALPA agreement prevents New York crews to staff flying from Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK.

Respectfully,

Then where do the NY based crews fly or do you mean they cant staff flying for other than LGA? Wouldnt it be better to have a LGA crew staffing a JFK or EWR flight vs a PIT/DCA/CLT/BOS crew?

Tad:

I said that incorrectly, the current ALPA contract permits pilot's to originate and staff trips from all three New York area airpoprts operated by the PANYNJ. Another words, EWR/LGA/JFK is currently a common domicile, but trips only originate from LGA. That could change with the proposed JFK expansion, which could be significant.

That makes more sense. Then again, with the current agreements in place, I wouldnt have been surprised if your previous statement were correct.

Yeah, I have to agree with 320 on this. JFK could be huge for US.Folks, i know the last few weeks have been rough on US with all the new stories and such. However, I firmly believe that US will get through all this mess, and we are gonna be someone to contend with finally! This Transformation Plan is finally starting to show and its gonna be huge. I cant wait to be part of it!

Sorry guys but i don't comment very often because I think that some of the things at US Airways makes me sick but a new hub????
At a time like this they are considering a new hub in FL? Where is the money going to come from????
Sure I think that a hub in FL would make more sense than 2 hubs in penn but I mean really!
What about CLT? What is CLT going to turn into? INPUT from anyone would be appreciated. Oh by the way I'm sorry for all the folks in PIT that read this.

FLL is not going to be a hub. A hub and a focus city are like apples and oranges. By this time next year, 75% of all flying will be point to point.

TransatlanticFlyGuy,
I was just responding to an article I read from the Washington Post and a couple of articles. I hope nothing but the best for US Airways and hopefully soon things will change in a good way for everyone.

I think the expansion into the Island markets and to the South is great. Now, butting heads with Jetblue and SWA on the mainland routes is that smart? It will be great for the customers. Look for fares in the $70 to $80 range from FLL to the East, possibly lower. US will match and lose more money they don't have. Just my thoughts.........
