Simple solution: Start a subsidiary using the laid off workforce and the parked jets copying the route structure, working conditions, contracts and management style of WN. As Siegel said yesterday, PRECISELY. Use the same contracts as WN. The same jets. The same routes. The same pricing. The whole shebang. Compete with them on their ground. I assure you 99% of our furloughed would jump at the chance to work under WN contracts and conditions.
Here's an even simpler solution: If you're willing to work under a SWA contract, why not take matters into your own hands and apply for a job at SWA?
What a great ideal ! Apply for a job at Southwest, Of course, Good ole Southwest will allow me to carry my SENIORITY with me, won't they ? Maybe this solution isn't that simple after all. ;)

I think this is against the law!

If you guys had the same pay scale as WN it may end up as a raise, ie rampers, 73 pilots etc.

I think its more work rules than anything. Do you think you could get a US FA to clean a plane between flights or lift a bag in the overhead? Could you reduce your gates so the planes turn around in 30 minutes and rampers would be assigned one gate because as soon as one plane leaves another is waiting? This is where WN has an advantage
For your information, MRMAN, the US Airways flight attendants DO clean the aircraft at roughly 20-25 stations. This, MRknowitall, is the job of utility and if I were to just go out and clean an airplane, utility would file a grievance and get time and a half. Where do you get off on assuming that the f/a's do not or would not clean an aircraft?

Also, the company has made it clear that we are there to "assist" the customer with their bags. They have made it clear with the insurance companies that we f/a's are NOT baggage handlers. The insurance companies have made it clear that they will NOT pay a claim if it is due to lifting a customer's bag. I am a grown man and do not mind assisting at my own risk. I do work out and don't find it a liability for me BUT, if you are a woman, 5'6" tall weighing in at 100 pounds, lifting your huge bag is dangerous and totally unneccessary. Anyway, how old are you? MRMAN tells me you are a male. Can you not lift your own bag?

If mangement wants to be responsible and guarentee they will cover injuries from lifting bags, I'll be more than happy to support your position. If SWA f/a's lift their bags, they are probably covered by their insurance co. If not, they're taking a huge risk.

And btw, It is policy at SWA that when an airplane starts the deplaning process, ALL employees are to help clean the planes....here it?...ALL...the pilots. f/a's AND nonrev employees as well. That was told to me directly from a SW f/a.

Please get your info correct.
