F/a's Receive Company Counterproposal

The company is hoping for 5,000 to take it, in which they could stagger the furlough in order to recall 1,700 INVOLs and then hire off the street. Why they hope we all take it? Because the average senority for f/as is 18.9 years...80%.

Wow. That really is, quite literally, dismantling the workforce considering there are only 5,400 or so F/As flying at mainline (excluding Mid) these days.

"For pilots & F/A's the end of month check is an advance based on the previous months earnings. Thus, our Oct 31 pay was not affected since it was based on Sep pay. The result is that we were "overpaid" on Oct 31 and it will be corrected on Nov 15, making the drop in take home doubly bad. In effect, there was 0% pay cut on Oct 31 and there will be a 42% (F/A) or 37% (pilot) cut on Nov 15 to make the average right."

So flight crew, and especially F/A's, will see some very small checks on the 15th....

Actually for F/A's the pay cut started on Oct. 17th, so the 30th pay check being an advance for Oct is only 35:30 hours. Unless the f/a is on the 50 hour option, it shouldn't cause such a stir for us. Of course that is if we all spaced our fllying out over the entire month. If some flew only the last half of the month, it will really hurt! Not to say this won't hurt, which I know it will, but the little we get on the 30th just won't play a huge factor.

I think it's great that the judge will hear the Unions' arguments concerning these paycuts on November 18th. Maybe the Holidays won't be as bleak as they seem right now! What is the actual date this month when our current working agreements become null and void to the company?

You're right, it won't be as bad as it would have if the cuts had been in effect all of October. My only point was that, unlike most other groups, our Oct 31 check had no cut (being based on Sep pay) so was over 1/2 of Oct pay (generally speaking). The Nov 15 check would normally be the other 1/2, but will be less due to the "overpayment" on Oct 31. So it will be lower due to the pay cut that was in effect the last part of Oct, then lower still because of more than 1/2 Oct pay being paid on Oct 31. Instead of the cut being spread over 2 checks, it's all in one.

Like you say, how much less will depend on each individuals flying schedule for Oct.
