Extension of CARES act less likely

And what about the millions of bar, restaurant, cruise and hotel workers who didn't get that extra six months of pay and benefits that the airline workers did?

Yeah, I'm glad my co-workers got a lifeline. But it's a bit specious to claim that airline workers deserve another lifeline. We've had six months to get our affairs in order. Others didn't.

The only thing I'd support right now would be letting airline workers get the $600 payments everyone else got up until July 30. Let them qualify for three months of extra UI to soften the blow. Same thing for the 29,000 Disney workers that were let go this week as well.

I agree. I don't see too many banks or investors willing to bet on an industry that's going to be 70% of its previous size, especially when most of the furniture has already been mortgaged to other creditors.

The only thing bankruptcy would be good for is getting rid of leased airplanes and real estate.

E. Take note in this article of the changes made by Rep's and the White House as they added some new and more $$$ including restaurants and entertainment getting 120 Billion.

We the people regardless what industry work are paying heavy toll. The airline industry is more of national security than restaurants n bars

the dems are insisting upon stimulus checks for illegal immigrants and protections from deportations? money for illegals and their dependents...people who shouldn't be here without taxpayer IDs.

ok, we the people.

House passed the 2.2 trillion dollar bill last night.
Unfortunately the senate will not agree to it.
I really doubt anything will pass before the election
American workers are being used by these asshols in congress for there own power and posturing
Screw them all

WHOA … PELOSI announces she will move stand-alone airline relief. BIG change here.

PELOSI: “As relief for airline workers is being advanced, the airline industry must delay these devastating job cuts.”

i'm going to wait and see what our leaders in dfw say about this.

pelosi says that one way or another, the airlines will get aid...by standalone bill or by comprehensive stimulus bill.

she wants the airlines to wait on the layoffs. i believe aa started yesterday. i believe the airlines want the layoffs and get payroll aid for the remaining employees.

The politicians knew what was going down, yet dragged their feet. The CEOs were up there telling them what would happen. Now they start to do something about it while lots of workers have been turning in their badges and maybe filing for unemployment. Hopefully most people who were going to be on layoff are still on the clock. It will be interesting to see how mgmt handles this as I believe they wanted a layoff and then aid.

Just remember, advanced and passed are two different outcomes. As someone who grew in the 50's and 60's when the Republicans always preached balanced budgets (i.e. how much money is going out and where is it going to come from) I have been somewhat aghast at how easily Congress (a pox on both their houses) pass single BILLS that amount to $3 trillion or more. I remember when it made headlines for days when the first Congressional budget (the entire thing...every penny to be spent in the coming year) passed $1 trillion. I have no problem with the Repubs beginning to get cold feed. My mind keeps wondering how are we going to pay for all this.

yeah, nancy's timeline is messed up. maybe nancy uses the gregorian calendar.

the company has already laid-off. can't hold off, nancy..

this afternoon - company says that if a package is done in a few days, laid-off employees will be reinstated, as quickly as possible.

Don't forget all the people who retired to make room for junior ee's. Will they suddenly be unretired?.....

i knew someone who left and he had refused to sign the docu-sign because he was afraid he was absolving aa of all liabilities, while still employed and working.

he thought someone might drive over his foot at work and he'd be powerless, legally. he contacted his attorney who told him that he's signing away his rights to sue for age discrimination, etc.

at the same time, aa was telling those who refused to sign that not only must they retire on scheduled date, but they would not be entitled to insurance fund and other goodies.

needless to say, he signed and his last day was wednesday.

Yea. And she is reporting in articles and asking for the airlines to hold off a bit longer this past Fri. when the airlines have already begun the layoffs and furlough processes 2 days before that. Too late Pelosi, this is on your plate and she will not be forgotten for it...

The retiree problem will generate noise if the juniors go back on payroll... thats the group who will have a harder time finding new employment.

Well " VO " and " TOW BAR ", I can understand your frustration / Pain.
