Dol Says Open The Ballots

AAStew said:
This is good news. Does anyone know to whom these ballots belonged to? I am hoping most of the postmarks were STL!!! After reading all the minutes from the meeting, it seems like this has turned into a dictatorship and not a benevolent one at that!

Upon closer inspection by the DOL it was confirmed that 13 are from STL and 3 from other bases and NOT 11 from STL and 5 from other bases as it was initially thought.

Just an FYI,

When I voted I was "STL" but my ballot read "SLT" (long before I was "SLT")...I found that very interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, APFA could determine where you "voted" from, much like AA makes it easy to tell where your AA employee number is from.

I hope to God that this election is reversed in light of recent events. I also shudder-to-think about a reversal based on recent confessions. If the BOD is this out-of-touch with the membership that cares, they need to go. I have a pretty big mouth and will use it.

I believe JW to be ineffectual. Based on the LGA unofficial minutes, JW seems to not really care about the issues that affect the membership daily...only how DFW could be persuaded to vote...

I worry about the recent comment from John Nikides. i.e. replaced by THB as "punishment"

I hope that the many clueless bother to inform themselves about John Nikides and how he has voted.

I stand by my assertion that DOL has ordered the ballots be counted on 8/12. In addition, I stand by my assertion that 13 unopened ballots are from STL and 3 from other bases. No communication from APFA about this issue I consider "normal" given their history of hiding issues from the membership. As I recall the constitutional issues vote ends 8/11. Perhaps APFA members have the opportunity to take back their union this week.

Reread THB's letter about the balloting posted elsewhere on this forum. Interpreting from her conclusions one could only conclude change is soon to come.

Opening the ballots, counting and recertifying a winner is not a done deal. Until it happens it is only conjecture with a fair amount of certainty it will happen. Consider that a possible loser in this process might, I say might, decide to take some form of legal action to delay or forestall the counting of the ballots.

Why wouldn't they. The "other side" uses the legal system to exhaustion so why shouldn't they.
Hope they are already working on that.

Only 4 1/2 days left John WAArd!! Have you started to pack your office up?

Packing it up against the door baracading himself in. I hope the Tommie brings the local sheriff as a witness and then after he or she can escort jw out and change all the codes on the doors.

First - what in the heck is "fast reply"? When I went to add a reply - I noticed this new option.

What I really was going to post is that there was so many postings about this girl called "jodie" - John's secretary. So if JW leaves - I suspect she also will be gone. Is this true? And what other people will be exchanged in the process?

All the non flight attendant staff are union (UAW) employees. In each new administration some get moved around position to position. The president names the people (line flight attendants) to head the departments. Will Tommie come in a change? Will jw's buddies resign and head back to the line? Hard to say.

PS fast reply is a posting with out all the fluff. No smiles, different font, colors or size.

Very interesting indeed. So, if that's the case that means all 13 votes to be opened and counted are from the STL/TWA side, making THB the winner.

Champagne anyone?

The only problem with Tommie is that you never really know where she stands on key issues. I have seen her waffle on more than one issue. Although anything is better than King John I of APFA.

I think she is pretty firm on everthing. I can see like myself over time things have changed. I have changed my feelings on things today over what I believed when I started. like John Kerry may have voted to do some things ten years ago that he wouldnt do today. But yet the other side makes it an issue.

What I really like about Tommie is she is inclusive of all people and will work to protect person seniority number 1 all the way through the most junior f/a on furlough. She see's the writing on the wall. That the people who wrote this contract who created APFA are leaving fast. That a new group needs to be there trained and ready to carry this union and its members on to the future.

Coop,

I spoke to John Nikides by phone for almost 90 minutes on Friday. He is willing to give THB a chance like the rest of us are. If she pulls any strings and f***s us over then we recall her. I think she will do just fine, but we have to give her some time because it doesn't happen overnight. Just look at Cathy, petitions are going around to recall her as we speak.

I was based at LGA and JFK during my career. I know THB and have flown with her on several occasions. She will do the best she can to bring back UNITY to the APFA. She will stand strong against our greedy AMR management. She will fight to save our profession and get back what we lost! Just remember 2006 is 1 1/2 years away and this will be her time to fight for us.
