Just trying to get a barometer of how people feel about this merger. With each passing day I am more opposed to merging with Delta, mainly because they do not want it, imagine trying to combine work forces, what a nightmare. The other reason is the downsizing of Charlotte, it will happen. The overlaping hubs do not make sense to me, Delta seems to be the most ilogical choice. It seems to me the main reason behind the merger is to gain pricing power in the market place.

What do you think?

And we have a winner. You also have to add reducing capacity in the industry. This second point is what will get the DOJ's blessing.

I have to agree with you. This is like a dream that is about to turn into a nightmare if this deal follows through.

Voted No for the Record

Doug is insane he is doing a classic steven wolf move.

How soon the masses forget!

i say no to the merger. keep delta!!!!

Yeah, who wants a bunch of pissed off employees? We have enough already. I dont understand what they are so upset about anyway? They keep the name, etc, just better managaement.

My fear is that they are nonunion and if this goes thru then im sure there would have to be some kind of vote to keep union in and I think at this point the union may lose and we are no longer protected .....the company would have carte'blanche to do what they wanted, especially to small cities where they wouldn't have the protection of a 'mainline' status.....this merger just seems way too big right now....we dont even have all the I's dotted yet with where were at now

I agree with most delta people about this proposed merger. We're two identical companies trying to merge. I always believed it to be better if combined with another airline with complimentary route structures, i.e. US/HP or US/UA. I do understand Parkers and wall streets position now.. It's all about reducing capacity and pricing power. If this is what it takes to work for an airline with a secure future then so be it.

And how in the HEll does this "build a better airline"??

Define "secure future" as well. Secure for who exactly? You the employee? Me the customer? OH! The "share holder".

I get it. Let's remove a competitor. Now we have only 1 choice for air travel out of some airports. But I'm certain someone will fill the void, right? ;)

You merger maniacs need an enema. This merger with DL is not good for you or me. But what the heck, go through with it and we'll see you in BK one more time with the outlook being CHAPTER 7.

Better yet.....liquidate now and save us all the trouble. US wants 1 less competitor out there it seems. GO ahead. Fly away, now. Close up shop. It's certainly better than the course US is on right now. DP can't even finish the job with the first merger before he wants to PHUCK up another one.

Chill out dude.. I believe, like Parker, that this industry is too fragmented with US still being the little guy. I think at this point consolidation is ineveitable.. Good luck to all of us and hold on too your hats...

Your correct FlyUs !

Consolidation IS ineveitable.

US has a HUGE problem, and Parker knows it.
(For the record, I'm becoming a big PARKER fan with each passing hour. The guy has a pair of NUTS the size of a RHINO)!!

US still has an IDENTITY problem. ......Not a "true" legacy....Not a "true" low cost carrier !!

Parker, (and all of you) are VERY fortunate that your able to get $$$ "backing"

So,
What to due with all that money ??.......Merge/acquire, naturally, but with whom ?

IMHO, in a "close decision", between NW or CO, I say CO.

WHY ?

I think one of the reasons is, Parker knows PHL is an incureable TUMOR, but you are(after all) a "northeast" hubbed company.

I'd suggest, that a lot of your International passengers, live in NJ, so the "jaunt" up to EWR, would not be too unbearable.
Insread of forcing DL, talk to CO. They at least are "lukewarm" to consolidation.

Good luck !!

NH/BB's

Oh I am "chilled", DUDE B)

For the first time since 1978 when I first started flying USAIR(WAYS) I am in a position to wish that this airline was GONE with the wind like; PanAm, Eastern and TWA.

US is not the US that I've flown since 1987. What made US was aborted when DP took over and made it a bigger HP with repainted planes and customer dissatisfaction.

Well, if this DL thing goes through, you'll get your wish. And if DP runs the "New Delta" just like he's running US right now, you'll have an even bigger airline to B*&%$ about.

sorry you feel that way, but times are changing.. the full service amenities of the past are being reduced for overall lower fares.. thanks for wishing the demise of 35,000 careers.
