Busboy, nice revisionist history. AFAIK, no other major airline has "special track" pilots. Your statement is absurd in the extreme.
My beef with you was regarding Jet Blue pilot comments you made. You might want to enroll in a Sylvan reading comprehension class. They (your comments) are in the archives, so refresh your memory and realize how absurd your statements on this site have proven.
Mags, I assume by "ringknocker" you mean a USAFA grad. So what? FWIW that term has historically (and perjoritively) been ascribed to West Pointers, whose presence in commercial aviation is negligible since the '66 grads of USMA were allowed to select USAF/USN, flew combat in SEA and then retired. Nice group to denigrate, heh?
Since '66 DOD only allowed prior-service, children of KIA/active/retired members of those services to be commmisioned outside the Army. But that was long ago and I don't know the regs anymore.
You two clowns best take your very tired and ignorant acts elswhere. Try back to UAL, where your CEO is making money hands-over-fist at the expense of you former "employee-owners."
Once again you're FOS and a liar. If the comments are in the archives, then why don't YOU prove it. you're the one making an inflamatory statement about others. You're the liar.
On average, do women and minorities hired at SWA have lower hours than white males? Face it, you have differant de facto standards as does every other airline. fortunately, during the days UAL was actively pursuing those you're biggoted against, we had a pension and better opportunities, so we got the best, and SWA got the leftovers. Heck, we even got a few from SWA. Thanks! But just to clear up something, weren't you "Navy"? when the Navy picks guys to fly fighters (the best of the best right?), do they pick people with type ratings and a bunch of hours? Or do they pick the BEST PEOPLE AND TRAIN THEM. I guess flying ORD-DSM in a guppy is much tougher and therefore requires differant methods.. DA...
On the USMA thing, once again, your wrong (seems like a trend). Cross commisioning IS allowed on a very limited basis. Additionally, quite a few rotor guys end up getting fixed wing time and making the jump. One of my best buds from the zoo cross commissioned into the Marines.
As for our CEO making big money, I couldn't agree more. It's wrong. Unfortunately, he had the power of the law under BK to do his bidding. Maybe in 2010 we'll agree to no pay raises for 5-10 years in exchange for a few stock options so the senior guys can get rich while our pilot group undercuts the rest of the industry and starts a huge downward spiral in pay and retirement benefits....oh wait, you beat us to it. I guess you guys will be getting a big payraise this time around though, considering that without the hedges, your margins were lower than most majors this Quarter...But you're probably glad you undercut the legacies last time your contract was open.
Again, sorry you got rejected at UAL. It wasn't my fault.
For the record, I've got a few friends at Blu. They are genuinely good folks, and ironically don't care much for the senior folks at blue (the ones who went to work for pennies...). They complain about the things I predicted years ago. Let's face it, I was right. My rants were against the airline, not the people, and considering that you can't remember or comprehend a post in the same thread you write in, it's not a stretch that you have no accurate memory of any of my posts from a week agao, much less a couple years.
