GREENSBORO -- AirTran Airways will discontinue service at Piedmont Triad International Airport as of Sept. 6, the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority announced late Thursday.

Not if your a pax. I save an average of $500 a week flying out of GSO vs CLT, only to go to CLT and get on the same flight I would have been on. I guess that saving will disappear shortly.

Yes, I know what you're saying. Soon there will be no reason for CLT natives to drive to GSO to ride Delta and Airtran, IM sure GSO fares will rise. A few Greensboro natives will start driving over to RDU to take advantage of the discounts out of there. A CLT - RDU commute is a little much though; I don't think many people will drive that far to save a couple a hundred dollars.

I was surprised to read that Airtran couldn’t attract any business fares. GSO has a huge number of business travelers. Extremely high number of Chairman’s Preferred.

Yields should improve in GSO.

US takes very good care of CP's out of GSO. IMHO, it has the best staff of any station in the system. I can tell you that I have only flown Airtran twice since they have been there. Didn't enjoy it and wouldn't do it again unless there were no other choices.

I've always heard that GSO had one of the highest %'s of CP's in the system. I wonder how much the CLT "drive" factor impacts this. On a CLT/GSO flight this week, there was a huge number of CP's on the flight and the three or four I spoke with were all driving back to CLT.

And as Clue said the load factors will drop if the fares go up.

ps. Any chance we could keep the jet way that went down Thursday night out of service permanently? The short cut straight into baggage claim was very nice. Much quicker IMHO

I agree with everything you said, I will only add that if they don't get better yield in GSO it will end up all RJ's.
