Delta, pilots reach contract deal early

The reduction in profit sharing verses straight pay was a consesion the company wanted. The other employee groups wanted the straight pay over profit sharing. It is hard for outsiders to see but on the benefits side and profit sharing falls into that catagory all are treated the same.

...which should accelerate the retirement of the dreaded 50 seat RJ fleet, addition of more large RJs (the primary objection to many pilots), confirmation of the 717 sublease program from WN, and likely acceleration of other strategic initiatives which might include further domestic and/or int'l consolidation and a transpacific joint venture.

BTW, Kev, any word on the size of non-contract pay raises?

Listen WT. Delta could give peeps like Kev a $50,000.00 a year raise, life time medical, and a new car every year and they will not be happy, unless of course they paid union dues to get it !

So in closing, no matter what the company does, whether good or bad, they will always and forever be known as "The Evil Corporation!"

Didn't the former NW union employees get RAISES once the decertification was complete? I remember reading about the AFA challenging DL to give PM-NW FAs profit sharing payments and pay raises following the collection while pursuing their interference charges. Have an upcoming flight on DL, first since the May 1st integration. Wonder how the PM-DL and PM-NW employees work side by side.

Josh--

Our base rates increased, but overall compensation did not.

So are you you're saying you received a wage increase but are paying more for health care and other benefits? That's what I've assumed all along when you said you received a wage increase but your overall compensation didn't increase.

There was a vocal, although now known to be minority, group of DL pilots who believed the TA (now contract) wasn't that great of a deal given that they will give up some profit sharing in return for higher base pay and changes to the reserve system, DL is able to avoid hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of dollars in overhaul costs on the older CRJ fleet (if you believe DL intended to keep them), and that DL gained the right to add up to 70 more 76 seat RJs (likely CR9s as tradeins for the older CRJs) which is scope erosion, even if the 717s are also being added and ALPA gained new ratios on mainline vs DCI domestic flying.

Yes and what is funny is when the numbers are ran Delta can park a good bit of a t-tailed fleet without dipping below the limit. They are going to end up with little to no growth, write it down that I said this.

Once again DALPA screwed its members, for short term gains and long term losses. To bad this one will likely hurt TechOps. Loss of CF34 work, likely loss of JT8D-219 work and unlikely no chance in hell of the BMW engine coming in house or (gasp) 717 HMVs. Sad day, but I quit having hope in ALPA a long time ago.

Mexico TechOps should be loving this though. More Delta work and getting less pay. Yeah Baby! (also WT I bet you had one hell of a party when it passed.)
