If, after this next round of discussions, we find ourselves no closer to resolution or hope of same, we intend to explore another avenue to bring these discussions to a beneficial conclusion for our membership. If this should become necessary, you will be so advised.

The above is from the May 31 District 141 update. I wish I could post it in a better format, but regarless I'm surprised no one has started a thread on it. What exactly does the IAM mean by "explore a new avenue".

i don't know but i always hope it means strike lol ... anyways i've checked the 141 web cite the last few days and no word on how the talks are comining...

Are you suprised ?

DL 141 and the Negotiating Committee have never put out an update “Duringâ€￾ their talks! Doing so would be counter productive. What one (1) side agrees upon today could and probably will change the next. They have always updated us at the end of their negotiating week…look for something tomorrow…6-8-07.
Regards,

G.R.

TRANSITION NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

TO: All IAM Members Employed by US Airways

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

This week your Transition Negotiating committee met in CLT to resume negotiations in an ongoing effort to reach an agreement. Substantial discussions followed with an intense effort to make some headway and progress in these discussions by both parties.

I would describe our discussions this week as meaningful progress, enough to warrant our continued efforts and hope of bringing these discussions to a satisfactory conclusion in your behalf.

A number of difficult issues remain, but both parties are working hard to explore solutions to determine if an agreement can be achieved. Some of these issues are of a legal complex nature and it is in that regard, we have recessed our discussions to review/explore with our legal counsel proposals to present to the Company when we next meet. I will be meeting in DCA with our International for this purpose and to provide a review as to our current status and outlook.

Transition negotiations have been scheduled to resume on June 27, 28, and 29th, 2007.

Your continued support and patience is both critical and appreciated by your Committee, as we attempt to bring these discussions to a satisfactory conclusion in your behalf.
Sincerely and fraternally,

S. R. (Randy) Canale
President and Directing
General Chairman
CC: GVP Roach, Jr.

Both you are reaching for the stars and stretching reality by a mile.....
Dell,
It's kinda difficult to reach for the stars when you been 'bent over' for so long.
As far as reality is concerned, our buddy fanlube is right on the money.

Look what I found guy!

Apparently the company offered something that is awkward to normal negotiations. Whatever it was, it will apparently cause the IAM to review/explore its worth and practicality. Most likely it will end up as bad news to fleet service.

Just more BS and pie in the sky things that suckers Canale into new agreements. See MDA and also 1113 letters. He's way over his head in negotiations. My guess is that whatever it is that the IAM is talking about...it's something that won't become immediate and will have little value but plenty of potential in a perfect world. Guess what, we don't live in a perfect world, so it's all just more smoke from Canale. Fleet has been in negotiations for years, the arbitration is on the back burner and Canale just got hoodwinked again to consider 'explorations'. Puh leeesseee. Giant Robot, your boss is absolutely horrendous to justice. If Canale is a fish then he bites on a clean hook.
There was no meet on the whole MDA hoodwinking, and no meet on the 1113's but you and your fellow IAM loyalist lied to everyone by saying "Jets for Jobs" and "NO more concessions". All lies and you and your fellow IAM loyalist are responsible for the lies.
MDA wasn't worth ONE JOB although it was packaged by the IAM and Canale shouted from atop the hill "JETS FOR JOBS". 1113 letters were sold as 'gold bars' as Canale preached "NO more Concessions". Liars, that's all, it's just plain and simple. Now he is 'exploring' again? Save it! Puh leeessssseee

Oh boy, I can hardly wait for the next 'exploration'!!!!Anyways, say goodbye to the arbitration!

Canale is horrible. He ran his mouth about the MDA and 1113 letters and now he is trying to sell another 'exploratory abstract'. This guy is seriously incapable of negotiating in the concrete, i.e., pay and benefits. Unfortunately, the I'll Ask Management union is now 'hoodwinked'.

regards,

The NW flight attendants have one of the most unusual results to contracts. I have not mastered cut and paste but please read their results to helping them survive bankruptcy. Maybe the results of our merger our BOD and CEO and Shareholders did not have the foresite to predict the economy, war, gas and unforetolded circumstances that are leaving the best of minds befuddled!
I believe IAM wants to recreate what East and West deserve. Truth is, it can't happen now! Airline and stock analysts predict it will be a while to regroup and resurge.
My guess, and it is a guess, is both East and West might want to come to the middle on what both AWA and US. needs, and, thruth is, the company needs ,us, worse than we need, them.
Most of this new group of management are "second guessing" and haven't really got a grip on the world' competion. Hopefully, we can come out of this mess with a compromise of work groups that want to see this legacy airline regain its position as a world leader, inspite of the Shortsidedness, management, with very little experience, decided to venture into. When all is well, we all benefit. But, right now we better hold on to our hats! It is US against the world!
The companies in Europe, Southwest, even Delta, and don't forget the middle east, have much more to offer the traveler. We'll be lucky if we can get back on track again. But, it will probably take the dreaded setbacks again. It'll be ALL or NOTHING!
My bet, is we all come to the middle and move from there.

Both you are reaching for the stars and stretching reality by a mile.....
Stretching reality by a mile, I don't think so, everything I posted happened, you can't defend it so in typical IAM loyalist fashion you try to make it sound as if it didn't happen tell us how what I said didn't happen! And since when did paying dues and expecting your union to deleiver become reaching for the stars, like I said if they can't deleiver its time to give somebody else a try. The clock is ticking!

. At the old TWU meetings you could scream at the union president if you had a problem , during the IAM meetings your too afraid to speak up because it’s so damn formatted and ridged . I had problems with TWU , but at least you knew where to find them , I don’t think the IAM even has offices here in PHX …

You could always ask the IAM for your own local in PHX, for US/HP employees only. But, it would take some dedication and donation of time to get it up and running.

Let's just keep close eye on what the I'll Ask Management is up to in their 'explorations'. My understanding is that US AIRWAYS wants to extend your contract at least 2 additional years. The legal exploration may be to see if this is feasable without a vote. My sources say that since there are just a few token nonhub stations left that the hubs will dominate any new vote. Each Hub is a very strong and 'radical' "no vote" to allow the union boss to toss out arbitration, unless it 'shows the money upfront'. The fear of losing 19 stations out west is NONE of the hubs concerns.

My gut says no way will the IAM allow a contract extension without a vote, but it is a 'strong rumor'. Still I don't buy it but who knows.

regards,
