Crew Rests

Maybe if a bunch of your friends and colleagues were murdered with box cutters you would have a different perspective. But then again, from the sound of it, probably not. What do we know, we are just "dumb flight attendants"?

We also attended numerous memorial services for our fallen colleagues. God Bless them all. Now do you understand why we will not give out the 411 on anything?

TransWorldOne,

For the first time I actually respect you for what you posted.

TransWorldOne,

well thanks, your respect means so much to me... but that wasn't me...although I agree with TWFirst

Well as a UA F/A I certainly had a tough time with 9/11, but I still agree with BlueFlyer. If info is readily available to the public, I don't see what purpose it serves to scream "Confidential! Security related! How DARE you ask such a question! Have you no REPSECT?!?! Are you a TERRORIST?!?!"

Sheesh.

In fact after working flights where passengers have poked their heads into the crew rest curtains to ask us for a drink of water instead of asking one of the F/As who was not on break, I think it might be a GOOD thing to teach the travelling public what the curtains clearly labelled "CREW REST AREA" mean.

Thanks Bear,

wrx, transworldx, I was not trying to de-value what happened on 9/11. I am a flight attendant, and was flying on the morning of 9/11. I cried just like everyone else that day. I just don't think it is necessary to flip out and scream "terrorism! security!" when someone asks a question that has absolutely no security threat.

So back off with the box cutters comment, because I am a flight attendant too. I was simply trying to make a point how ridicules some peoples responses can sound.

Does JetBlue have crew rests? Do they have flights over 6 hours? Everyone hurt on 9/11, the crews at United and American hurt more. Unless you work for these two carriers, you have NO IDEA!

Oh my lord,

I am a flight attendant, I DO know where the crew rest areas are.... I was not the person asking... I am the person telling my fellow flight attendants they look like morons screaming "security!" for something you can find on any airline seatmap.

Weather my (current) airline has crew rest or not is irrelevant. I was flying on 9/11.. not for my current airline. What airline you fly has no significance on how much 9/11 hurt you. THAT is ignorance. Don't tell me i have no IDEA... you don't know me and you don't know my story.

something you can find on any airline seatmap.
This is the 747-400......I don't see the crew rests listed, do you?

This is what I'm flying tomorrow. Ok, so where are they?

I cannot agree with you about the level of pain. We all felt horrified on 9/11 but the airlines that were directly targeted felt it ten-fold. Don't believe me? Next time a plane crashes, what will you ask? Which airline (and you hope to G-d it isn't yours)

I don't beleive we are talking about the 747-400 are we?? We are talking about the 767. The 767 has the crew rest seats in the cabin... unlike the 747-400.

Quite frankly, you can only speak about YOUR pain, you cannot speak about anyone elses... because you didn't feel their pain. No one is trying to de-value your experience, so perhaps you should be more sensitive in speaking of others pain. To your surprise, where do you think I came from pre 9/11?? Enough to know where your crew rest will be tomorrow.

I agree with you all.

It is not necessary for others to know where the location of crew rest areas are located. On, the flip side people who really want to know can find out easy enough.

It is important to remember to remain vigilant of the passengers aboard the aircraft. THE TERRORISTS ARE OUT THERE, THEY ARE CASING THE AIRCRAFT. It is likely they already know this information.

The CEO of my company actually posted in our inflight magazine the location of the crew rest on our new A330. I participated in the media events and the people that toured the aircraft were extremely interested in the crew rest. Almost as much as the new WBC seat. My point, even people who are not terrorists are intrigued with our job and things that we find stupid like crew rest locations and accomodations. Personally I would not share information like that.

Because if you want to find me on a crew rest, I opt out of the gassy lice infested, recycled air of the crew rest and find a pillow and blanket and climb into an empty meal cart... ^_^ and ZZZZ, I'm asleep, until the next service.

As a flight attendant, I just wanted to let you know how childish you all sound. Do you really think someone is going to take the time to register on this website just to ask where crew rests are if they are terrorists?!@#$ Think about that for a minute....

1. Where would you go for information....obviously, the manufacturer....asking about where the crew rest is...is not like asking how to get into the cockpit during flight!@# Geez, ease up!

Obviously , if we are members of this forum, most of us are flight attendants just curious about what our fellow comrades do with THEIR airlines...not all airlines have 767's! Perhaps for a second, the person who asked that question was just curious about other types of aircraft!@#$%

... And besides, I can not believe any of you would treat a complete stranger like that! I can not even fathom how you are treating the passengers you have NEVER met!!!!!!

In conclusion, I believe this forum was created by/for the crewmembers that dedicate their lives to the airline industry... I really dont think it is necessary to be so rude.

Ok, I'll tell you. We sleep inside empty food carts that are located in the mid galley. The other flight attendants wheel us up and down the aisle, serving coffee from the top, just to keep everyone confused about our whereabouts.
I think the duty free cart would be better...lots of good stuff.

I think you need to take a second and rethink your comments. Yes, I believe a terrorist would use this as well as any other open access area. The terrorists who killed all those people on 9/11 flew the planes and flight numbers a number of times prior to the hijackings. The quietly watched noted and listened. Vigilance is now more than ever 24/7.
