Tonight,a man came up in a company truck and took a beltloader down to the auto shop, one of our agents asked him what's going on.He replied that they have been taking beltloaders and tugs from Pit to Phl a couple of nights a week.I guess the end is near in PIt.

Well, how many gates does Mainline have left in Pit?? I came through Pit tonight, after my trip and realized just on B concourse alone how few mainline flights there were. I read over 20 connections with about 95% going out of A concourse and E. The block trip sheets for Sept are the smallest ever.

Also, heard (rumor........) that any F/A who was hired 89 or later is gone Jan. 1st. This came from a person who works in Inflight.

Yea, I believe Pit is shortly to be history. :(

The master plan of the company is to have all the work from the Pit hangars moved into the Clt hangars witin days of the airbus ruling. That way when they lose the case they can plead that we told you we had no room, even though they just created the situation in the past weeks. That is the only games usairway knows how to play. Pure Ignorance. :(

hey dude.....since U reduced GSE staffing at many, many out stations...the overhaul-painting-refurbishing work has been contractually done in pit and wherever else......and they have been shipping refurbished ground units since the last round of concessions..please check your info.
have a great USAIRWAY'S day..................

Hold up...Both PIT & PHL have GSE personel.

For some reason PHL can never have enough equipment. ;)

It is pretty commom for U to ship equipment around to differant cities, I would be more concerned if & when they start pulling not just 1 unit; but 3 and 4 off the line at one time. Thats a sure sign somethings going on. :(

Thats a sure sign somethings going on.

An even surer sign would be an emphatic denial from the company that something's going on.

"It's not true, it's not true, it's not true"....( fast fwd 6 mos. )..."Let's not dwell on the past"

Late Saturday night while I was walking to my car I saw a flatbed tractor trailer leaving the ramp area with a Huff and a utility truck on the back. I watched to see where the trailer was going and it went onto Route 60 headed for 79.
Neither the huff or utility truck looked as though they needed painting. Both were in excellent shape. Looked relatively new.

I've seen some tugs and carts all around the local PIT area. They are in people's driveways and in a garden center. The one business had a belt loader too. PIT is history as of the October schedule. A slow ramp down throughout the Fall and Winter. 60-70% layoffs for customer service and ramp. A small amount of flights out of PIT combined with high seniorities, will make it difficult to commute to other cities to keep jobs.

I would like to return to the 60's mentality too. Where only single, petite and young F/A's can be employed. Call it what you want, Sexist. That would keep the business traveler around and keep wages lower. :p

Does anyone have any idea of the flight schedule out of Pitt come October. Is there going to be a dramatic reduction in October or January?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the update Itrade.

Does that schedule take effect in October or January and are those the only flights that pitt will have?

What happens to all the regional flying at Pitt?

Thanks again.

I think someone is trying to stir the pot...to even state that the only regional flying will be on 1900's and Dash's is unfathomable...need to have facts I-TRADE

The real answer is anybody's guess. But, I would bet that PIT goes to about 80 by year end.

8 or 10 each to CLT and PHL
cuts down to 2 to the far west cities like SAN, PHX, and SEA.
cuts down to 3 or 4 to LAX, SFO, and DEN
cuts in half for Florida
transition to RJs to DCA, LGA, BOS, and BWI
smaller cuts for the other cities (i.e., ORD, DFW).
