i agree about las vegas don't understand why all of the cuts allegiant air makes a profit every quarter southwest is going to be adding flights out of las vegas I work in las vegas and the flights go out full on all of the airlines

Seems kinda silly to have your corporate HQ all the way across the country from where the majority of your business is. This is in no way meant as a dig to our brothers/sisters out in PHX. Just speaking the truth. 400'ish flights from PHL, 240'ish from DCA plus like what 500'ish from CLT compared to PHX and 250'ish? The numbers are not exact but the majority of the company operates 3 hours ahead on the east coast.

Allegiant is non union, has old, low cost planes and flies to niche markets, and they do a good job.

USAirways has to pay its union contracts.

Alliegiant can afford to be innovative.

Pay their "union" contracts? Hell that should leave LOTS of money left over considering what most are paid compared to the other majors.

Presumably that's why the OCC is in the East. How many tactical operational decisions need to go to the executive suite?

I know no one in corporate has thought this far but...will they have the base transfers figured out in time (haha) for the January primary bids or are they going to have everyone on reserve for the month?? And will they have all that time siiitng in "open time" or have extra secondary lines??? The January timeline for primaries -for bidding-would be from the 17th of Nov thru 23rd of Nov. Time for popcorn!!

There are no improvements, short of nuking it. That's like saying they polished a turd. It's still a turd.

And the screens are often wrong. You still have to hang within 20 feet of the podium and hope you hear the PA in heavily accented English and get downstairs before the bus pulls. It sucks, and it'll continue to suck unless they upgauge equipment with the slot swap.

35A/B is very much improved. My colleagues agree.

I thought a lot of the flying being added to DCA through the slot/swap transfer business with Delta was going to be majority mainline or Republic at the least. That wouldn't involve the express mosh pit.

*shrug* You know what they say about opinions. Next time I'm thru there (probably on a Friday), I'll get video.

That would be nice, but that also presupposes two things: gate availability and the will of Tempe to actually run mainline equipment. Neither are a slam dunk by any means.

What they put in the employee announcemet of the slot swap was:

Additionally, we’ll be adding seats, without increasing congestion, in one of the busiest airspaces in the world by significantly expanding our use of larger dual-class jets by nearly 50 percent. [emphasis mine]

Currently the only dual-class jets are mainline. Like everything else, though, what they said in August isn't necessarily the same as what they do next year.

Anyone know how many mainline departures US is running today out of DCA?
