BAGGAGE HANDLERS THREAD

Its not run by the IAM, it has an independent trustee appointed by the board which is half IAM appointed and half company appointed who pay into the plan.

I'm an A&P certificated mechanic, I've spent the largest part of my life fixing things with wings. I may be wrong, but the way I understand your IAM NPP: if I work in the industry, my pension can be stopped until I no longer work in the industry.

How does the IAM National Pension Plan, for the total NMB recognized class and craft of Maintenance & Related, define working in the industry?

Since American's been around a bit longer than USAirways, the "fleet service clerk" came before the "fleet service worker".Unlike the "chicken or the egg" debate, known facts overrule theory and speculation.

thks JFK sounds like they are much better than ours. If they had let whoever built the thing do the IT programing on it ,they probably would be better.

They have gotten better over time but they are still pretty much pos

Like I said, you have to work half of your scheduled hrs Jan-Jun. That would be half of 1040 which equals 520. Likewise Jul-Dec.
That would be 520 x 2 = 1040. This amount is half of your YEARLY total of 1280.

Not sure what you are trying to say???

I think it is you that needs the break!?!?

Got it....1040x2=2080

Maybe we BOTH need a break.

I was not trying to say anything at all. I know you can do math. People that can not do math do not get A&P's. I was simply suggesting maybe you were fatigued or overtired when you were posting. There was no implication in the suggestion.

Management has ran American Airlines so far into the ground and so mistreated it's customers and employees that it has tarnished the brand.

I was thinking of the new American Airlines livery.

I have come to this conclusion.

You can't polish (buff) a turd but you can throw some paint (the new livery) on it.

At the end of the day though it still stinks.

The new paint job is akin to Adam donning a leaf. AA management is trying to cover up their shame.

I think the new paint job is history. Like Horton. Its around for a little but gone soon enough!

Still can't believe they paid some firm millions to come up with the new livery either. I have seen a few done by amatures over on A-Net that look better.

Forget about the paint job its the bags that will break your back. Transportation is the second most dangerous job in the US, the first being construction. You will get a boost in income under AALLC, but jobs will disappear quickly after the official announcement. Young people ...Don't become complacent get an education & training in a new career and never look back.

Don't be a Pack Mule all your life...

You can C/S off 50% of your scheduled hours per quarter.

That's it exactly. Can a US employee work 20 hrs a week for 6 months?

I have known people who worked 20 hours in 6 months... total!

Between drops, VTO's (Voluntary Time Off), partial drop of shifts trade for as short as an 1 hour in the beginning (and/or ending) of a shift in exchange for a shift, and vacation, one would barely know the person is still employed with the Company! I recall one guy a few years ago, that bemoaned his paycheck was only $5... nevermind that he had not worked in nearly 3 months and between union dues and health insurance, the two days he did work left him almost nothing.

The trick is how to work the 26 drops per quarter (that averages 2 per week), and knowing the trades (even partial for full shifts) done in the same pay period are unlimited, so many people load-up on the last days of a pay period and beginning of a pay period, and then disappear for 4 weeks without using a day of vacation. Most common around here are the part-timers that do 5 double part-times with a trading partner with the same days off, and the go traveling for the next 9 days.

The dropping and trading policy is very generous and few people complain about it, and that's hopefully something that doesn't change with a merger.
