Former BWI baggage handler gets 14 years for mail theft scheme
BALTIMORE A former Southwest Airlines baggage handler at Baltimore-Washington International Airport has been sentenced today to 14 years in prison.
Prosecutors say the Nigerian immigrant -- who's a naturalized U-S citizen -- was involved in a stolen mail and identity theft scheme that netted more than seven (M) million dollars.
Kehinde Akintola Oladapo pleaded guilty in May.
The judge ordered him to pay seven (M) million dollars in restitution and to spend five years in supervised release after serving his sentence.
The order allows prosecutors to seize the man's house, car and any other property.
He worked for Dallas-based Southwest when he was arrested last year.
