Would you not say that one of the characteristics of a gentleman is that such a person of unimpeachable scruples would honor his agreements, even if it were not technically enforceable in a court of law?

I find it cowardly and self righteous of you to merely imply that someone isn't a gentleman by such weak rhetorical questioning. Nevertheless there are some things more important than waiting with baited breath for you to announce such a coveted accolade as "gentleman".

NYC's already at the helm of an international A330. Exactly what more can you imagine that "he wanted" per seniority?

I would imagine he wants to make more money than the F/Os flying the other A330s over the North Atlantic.

That doesn't appear to be the case.

Works for me. Mine was at age 14. Sailplanes of course. Perhaps you should stick with theTarot Cards/nic idea instead, just sayin'. ;)

OK, you beat me by 2-years. I had a forced landing at age 16 due to a broken exhaust valve. C-GUMPS did not work as advertised. Just one sailplane landing logged.

That was when Mt St Helens was a few feet higher, the Shah still ruled Iran and disco sucked. ;)

BS! Disco just got an unfairly bad rap! Tell me, with a straight face, that those little dance-markets weren't fun...And ok, ok; I'm not talking about the polyester "fashion", I'll admit that. ;)

PS: Nothing in this world works as advertised. I've long found occasional solace within the aviation world's many mechanical mysteries using the following "mantra" for instances involving myself. = "F you if you can't take a joke!" :)

All are certainly entitled to sue to their hearts' content, and even go so far as to fantasize themselves paradigms of "Integrity", "spartans" or even "knights" who've "fought many battles with valor" in supposed "war", heck!...even "dire wolves", but I've precious little use for indulging such infantile nonsense.

Uh Oh! Multiple negative votes for that huh? Sigh! That's ok kids...Just please don't sic any "spartans", heroic and "war"-tested, valorous "knights" or gulp!.."dire wolves" on me! ;)

PS Children: I suppose there's no hope whatsoever of ever receiving a way-cool-dude "Integrity Matters" T-shirt now? ;)

same here, checked out in a SGS 233 at age 14. well before I could drive.

Yep. "Mine" was even a bit more creak-ridden 222. Those were good times. :) Mom was against it. Dad's argument was that "It worked well for the Luftwaffe boys. He wants to fly, and it's a lot better than other things he could be getting into." ;)

I like it!

Hmm...We should excercise caution here gentlemen, lest we come to some, however slight, west-east accord that longevity does indeed have merit. ;)

An Open Letter to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi from the 10,000 Pilots of American Airlines

Dear Ms. Bondi,
In joining the Justice Department lawsuit to block the American Airlines-US Airways merger, you claim that “this merger would be anti-competitive and harmful to consumers” and that “American and US Airways compete directly on thousands of heavily traveled nonstop and connecting routes.”Actually, the two airlines compete directly on only 12 nonstop routes. Their route networks
are highly complementary with very little overlap — much more so than in any other recent airline merger. Southwest and AirTran, for example, served many of the same markets and overlapped on more routes than American and US Airways now do. Yet neither you nor the Justice Department intervened to stop that merger. Officials at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport believe that the American Airlines-US Airways merger would work to their advantage by giving the airport a long-sought link to American’s Dallas-Fort Worth hub.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Giminez also favors the merger, noting that, with its Miami hub, “American Airlines is a vitally important part of our work force.” Miami International Airport’s director has voiced concerns that its bond ratings will suffer if the merger is blocked.

American Airlines has struggled in recent years in the face of competition with two much larger carriers — Delta-Northwest and United-Continental — whose mergers were blessed by the Justice Department. The merger with US Airways would enable American Airlines to exit Chapter 11 restructuring
on a level playing field with United and Delta. A reinvigorated American Airlines would then offer business and international travelers a viable alternative to those carriers, providing an important competitive counterbalance.

If American Airlines and US Airways are not permitted to merge, American Airlines could be forced to shed less profitable routes, resulting in the potential service cuts you cite as justificatio for opposing the merger.
Maybe you should ask Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott about why he withdrew Texas from the Justice Department lawsuit after initially supporting it. In announcing Texas’ withdrawal, Attorney General Abbott stated that the new American Airlines “will preserve competition in the marketplace, maintain important routes in Texas and protect jobs.”

For the sake of American Airlines, its thousands of Florida-based workers and the economic well-being of the Sunshine State, we hope you’ll likewise reconsider your position.

I thought we had a breakthrough until more 14 year-olds popped up.

No worries snap. Even actual 14 year olds couldn't possibly compete in the same league with self-styled pillars of "integrity", "spartans", "war" tested "knights", etc/ad nauseum. We'd reasonably have to reduce the maximum entry age to around 10, I'd think. :)

I suppose some degree of a waiver could be issued for those sad specimens that never mentally surpassed that mark though...case in point; this individual and all such unfortunate cripples:

PS: For his sake (and many others)...I can only hope he was just seriously drunk when making that masterpiece, and that it doesn't at all reflect his normal mental processes when at the controls of an airliner.....

In China, 10 is over the hill.
Try 5.
