Does anyone know of Arpey''s position on the special perks and bonuses granted the top execs? Didn''t he benefit from the goodie bag?

Of course he did.  His name is most certainly on the list along with the rest of the band of thieves.

When Carty was ousted, it was simply out with the old, in with the old.  No new blood is in command, it''s still the same greedy perk-granting crew.

The removal of Carty got the unions their pound of flesh.
Arpey''s position is probably the same as Carty''s.

Moot point?  No it isn''t.  The protected pension fund that is exempt from bankruptcy still exists, and they aren''t going to give it up.  Carty still gets to collect on that fund, as will Arpey when his ticket gets punched.

will you ever be happy...How come I do not hear you crying about the protected pilot pension fund. 1 million pay out .

Give arpey a break and a chance before you go bashing him and his crew.

Why does it matter? Arpey wasn''t on the board at the time that the bonuses were approved, and that was a decision made by the outside directors of the board.

Since the retention bonuses were retracted, it is a moot point.

It doesn''t matter - it still makes for good anti mangement fodder. Perhaps they can oust Arpey and bring in someone who has nothing to do with AMR. I hear "Chainsaw Al" Dunlap is looking for a job.

Arpey is different from Carty, folks.

The fact that Arpey is turning down a raise for taking on the CEO position probably says that as much as anything. Maybe it is simply symbolic, or maybe it just further reflects the fact that he's not Carty.

Gerard lives in Tarrant County, versus the higher status areas like Highland Park or Southlake. He is a member of a small Lutheran church, and actually attends from what I hear. Lutherans don't tend to be all about image, unlike some other large denominations which dominate Texas...

I don''t know, did the pilots secretly haul 42+ million out of the general fund from AA in a single shot and bury it in a pension plan for the untouchable benefit of a scant few?

As for Arpey, who says I''m not giving him a break? Have you seen me complain about a single thing he''s done since taking over? Talking about his "status" and whether or not he benefits from a heretofor secret pension fund is NOT complaining about anything he''s doing company management wise since taking the conn.

Eric,
While I know the point you were trying to convey about Arpey, you IMHO crossed a line, that a former moderator KNOWS is a no-no, and thats the mention of one RELIGION Vs. Another.
Lutheran,Hindu,Jew or athiest, "It''s a no-no" !!!
(mentioning neighborhoods, up-scale Vs. "Not so upscale" is IMHO, OK)
NH/BB''s

What''s wrong with talking about religion? We sit here and blast away at each other about everything else.

Because one of the tenets of religion is "love your neighbor"...unless your neighbor is pro TWU.
