Arbitration update

Most of the concessions, which are 'significant' will be to the westies as they give up their scope protections, std, ltd, health, shift differ, vacation, holidays, holiday pay, ops differ, part time grievance award, profit sharing, double time. Basically the westies throw all their benefits under the bus for a wage increase. Even privileges like shift swaps are reduced.
The westies will experience 'great pain' but the pain will be masked with a pay raise that offsets some of the concessions. Some of these concessions were needed so that the IAM could have an enhanced positive space travel for its High paid 'Bosses'.

This didn't include any projected savings for the company with elimination of 450 jobs and closure of 19 westie stations after 3.5 years.

regards,

i completly agree i am a westie and everyone i have talk to i have told them to wait this contract is nothing but eye candy we can and will do better

Westies will experience 'great pain' by becoming part of a bankruptcy contract that offers nothing but a base wage, huge medical cost, no double time, limited shift trades, less holidays, less vacation, up to 19 stations contracted out that are now protected, profit sharing loss, shift differ loss, holiday pay, and about another dozen things.

OTOH, IMO, the class 2 stations actually come out 'ok'. Not kidding. They don't lose anything because everything was already lost, but they gain $3.50 cents which is more than the profit sharing they lost. Still much more was left in the drawer in the second offering if needed.

Class 1 stations will be asked to subsidize and 'take one for the team' by giving up the part time greivance award, profit sharing chekcs, and 1/3 billion grievance that would have put shiny new hitches on their trucks. Hopefully, for the class 2 stations, PHL will be nice fellas and vote yes. The class 2's [approx 1,100 workers] are hoping on it. Westies need to realize they will fall under a bankruptcy contract but it is blanketed and disguised with a 'baited' pay raise. Time will tell who was smarter and who was dumb.

regards.

when is the vote? and when will we know the results?

The vote has already been cast. 52% voted yes. Why do you think you put your ballot in a burn barrel? The iam traded any gains for dues money. Make no mistake, you will lose more than you will get. The End

Anyone can send a letter to their local lodge and have someone watch the votes be counted.

You are not a member nor an employee, you have no right to be there.

The procedures are spelled out to every IAM member in the constitution of what they have to do in order to have an observer present.

You have to be an IAM member and an employee of US Airways in the classification to request an observer.

And it does not matter whom or who you dont trust, what happens with the vote is no concern to you.

It is up to the Fleet Service employees and their democratic right to vote on the CBA as what determines what happens.

Any IAM member can request the observer and it has to be granted using the space available.

Each Local Lodge has a teller committee, they count the votes and certify it.

If any member thinks something was done with the count they can file a complaint with the IAM and/or DOL and the DOL has investigated elections and CBA counts before.

The IAM and every union has to follow the federal laws governing unions.

I have been involved in numerous counts with observers and without, and never have witnessed or taken part in anything corrupt in the vote count.

Bob, here's your answer.

It's not a big deal to get voting observed, and with a little pushing and shoving, you can get the count observed.

The problem is aggregating the independent count. If you observe PHL, I observe CLT, it's pretty easy for you and I to compare notes. Multiply that by all the stations, and you see the problem - coordination. Plus, given the rancor on this board, how do you get East and West to trust each other? Add this to IAM benign neglect in the observation process, and it gets very difficult.

Unless agents pull a rabbit out of their hat, there is no way they can independently verify the vote.

Agents could have put the pieces in place well before hand, but have you seen any evidence of the will to do so? The company and IAM knows it. They're banking on it.

the iam said they expect to announce the vote results on sep 5, is'nt that a coincedence. the arbitration is sheduled for the 11th or 13th....... vote this down, go back to the company and say we want what we want and when the arbitration is won the pay scales will be set and the west can transition to it.....
Yes,Yes finally someone in the west see's the light.Thank you this is what Ive been trying to get all yens out there to understand for 2 yrs now. Please spread the word.

There are more of us out west than you think who see this crap for what it is! Many more people are probably aware of this than you think....
As for my station, we are probably at 75% no, 25% yes for this piece of crap TA. Hopefully other west stations are seeing this TA the same way we are.

I knew you were pickin' on me. :p

You're right about the news - you need a BS filter. The crap that passes for reporting makes you wonder - do any of these folks have critical thinking skills? ' Cause they pass out gov't/corporate talking points verbatim.

I am also at a West Coast Field Station... we also think this T.A. is crap. Let's all vote this piece of s**t down! We are not in bankruptcy, we should not have a T.A. that mirrors a company in bankruptcy to vote on! Its a freakin' insult is what it is!

Yes each lodge has a teller commitee and we were told that our lodge will not allow observers, just the tellers. Looks like the fix is in. 700 you are nieve to think that this snake in the grass union doesn't fix the votes sometimes. Looks like this will be another. If this thing goes through the cards will be flooding for a new union. The IAM better be doing everything they can to assure a valid count including allowing anyone that wants to observe be present. If not they can kiss their dues goodbye. The membership is fed up with their corrupt ways and thank god there seems to be more and more out West seeing the light. Go Westies give em hell. I love you guys! Vote NO!

It is in the IAM constitution, they cannot deny observers, contact the International if the local lodge says no.

Ah once again the so called expert on everything says contact the FBI, for what?

Oh Mr Know it all, please tell us what crime has been committed for the FBI to get involved?

Maybe you should stick to copy machines, you know something you actually know about.

No crime has been committed, tell the local lodge President and RS you will be contacting the International as you have the right to have observers.
