Flight attendants at American seek strike step
Associated Press, 03.16.10, 05:14 PM EDT

DALLAS -- Flight attendants at American Airlines asked federal officials to declare that their negotiations with the airline are stalled, a common first step toward winning permission to strike.

Looks like we wont have to honor each others picket lines we can all walk together. Lets Do It

I will be very surprise if the NMB releases either the TWU or APFA.
I almost sure that more talks will be schedule. I could be wrong
but after reading what both parties have put out. I can see
the NMB coming back and saying that talks are not yet at
an impasse.

I'm rooting for an impasse and a release from mediated talks, but I agree; I would not surprised if the NMB rejected the request and orders more talks.

There isn't going to be a release, the administration won't allow it.

They will order more talks and maybe after six more months of the company wasting the mediators time we may get somewhere.

Yes, let's all walk out together so we can stand on the other side of the street while AMR sinks into the ground! Then we can all walk to the unemployment office together.

I have not put in more than 20 years with this company to see its own employees destroy it. The course of release from mediation and strikes is a course to bankruptcy, loss of pension benefits, more concessions and worse working conditions. I'm sorry if some of you are too shortsighted to see that. I am not having it!

You have to be kidding, right?? If you, for one second, think its the employees destroying ANY airline, you seriously need to pull out the "running a business 101" handbook. We make horrid wages compared to other industries. NO EXCUSES.. If my airline thinks they are getting concessions in our negotiations, they are sadly mistaken. Most people say SHUT ER DOWN!!!

There is a very simple response to your issues, goodgirl: go work in another industry. The airline industry has been in a form of decline for at least a decade, and has never faced more challenges than from 2001 to present. If you want to "SHUT ER DOWN" I hope you have a nice walk to the unemployment office.

No you would rather accept another 40% cut in real pay, give more concessions and have worse working conditions just to make sure the shareholders get theirs. Good luck to you, I'm ready to shut er down.

What will you have to show for 30 years at the co? Making the same money you were making 20 years previous? I'm making more after 2 years at my new job than I was after 15 at AA. I hope for the best for all, but when even low cost outfits are paying better what they are offering it is an insult. It's not a religion or a way of life, it's just a job..
