Any News On The Ord-hkg Or Pvg?

Nope. AA cannot fly either until next year, at the earliest, under the terms of the revised treaty with China, and then only if it is chosen by the DoT as a new carrier to China.

Asia seems to be AA's focus for the future. I heard today they are looking at going back to Taipei. Looking at all possibilities.

Where did you hear that AA is trying to go back to TPE?
I thought TPE to AA is not a market to make money that is why
AA has no strong interest to fly there?

Also, yesterday my friend told me that AA did not get the route to
fly to PVG.Both UA and NW got it.Is that true?

Is this is true, that is why AA wants to fly to TPE again?

Under the revised treaty, only the incumbent carriers (UAL and NW) could be granted the 14 add'l frequencies added in 2004.

So it was a forgone conclusion that NW and UAL would split up the frequencies.

AA is applying to be a new entrant in 2005, when the treaty allows new entrants and a bunch more frequencies.

AA made a specious argument that it should get the 2004 frequencies, but that argument was doomed to fail, since it was not permitted by the treaty.

Base manager at the purser conference said they were looking back in to TPI as well as other destinations. The growth in ASIA should be tremendous and AA wants its share and more.

When is China going to sign the agreement?
Isn't it in August ?
Already signed. However, don't pack your bags just yet. A (one, uno, eins)
new cargo carrier to be named by September. A (same count) new passenger carrier to be named by next March. The new cargo carrier and the new passenger carrier would be able to start service in 2006, and add service in 2008 and 2010.

In the meantime UAL and NW get any new passenger slots this year.
