AMR Corp (AMR) crossed below its 52-week low of $4.00 on 10:55 AM ET on February 20, 2009.

Although $4/sh is cheap (lower price than the date the concessions were imposed, when it was $5/sh), I doubt that $4 is the bottom. I wouldn't be surprised to see $2/sh again before this slump is over.

Looks like a buying opportunity to me.

I say . . . . . a buck eighty will be the low. At that price, buy in lots of 10K shares, sell them later the same way.

<_< ------ And here I was worried about the 100+ options I still haven't exercised at $5.00@ share!

They're underwater, so you can't excercise them, but even if you could it wouldn't amount to a pinch of chit.

I'm sitting on some I bought apart from the "program" at American and starting to wonder about it.

Time to buy more. It was a bargain even at $5 in April, 2003 and it's a bargain today at $3.90.

Considering a dab of symbol AAR also - present price is $7.90/share which calcs to a dividend of 24.81% annually.

You boys buy all you want, cause once they file BK (and they will), your pieces of paper won't be worth chit.

You may be right, but quite a few of the disgruntled have been posting that for more than six years.

Very true. Throughout my 30 year career, (even though I was tempted during the good times), I have never bought any airline stock.

You are quite correct. I was lucky enough to exercise at $40.00. Looks like a bargin to me as well.

Call me crazy, but I think the company will allow us to think their way and settle on what they think we deserve or the company will take the BK route to break the other contracts. The TWU contract has already encompassed the BK plan. We even have bankruptcy protection language in our TWU agreement....interesting huh?
This time around it is different and to invest is risky unless the other groups throw in the towel under the threat of BK.

At the last threat the flight attendants voted "NO". Then through the magic of of our union president it a couple days later it was changed. How people vote and what they are willing to do will also depend on the economy. There are not a lot of jobs waiting for unemployed airline flight attendants baggage handlers, mechanics or pilots.

If it were just AMR plummeting, I'd agree with the pessimists that may be a pre-bankruptcy indicator. But that would then have to be true of just about every other stock in America...

I'm amazed... nObama has assembled the dream team of economists, right? Why can't they stop the free-fall of the Dow & the S&P?... If I'm not mistaken, those indexes have lost far more value since American Idol - The Electoral Edition than they did beforehand...
