I've noticed most persons that complain about AMFA at work are not even title 1 or other group that would become an amfa member when put to the vote such as (Stores or Fleet Service).

So why are they complaining?

No one is asking them to leave the TWU - because they will not be affected and will remain as such (with the TWU)...

Am I wrong?

Yea, I think you are.

I've seen baggage handlers on this board say that the mechanics should go.

More than likely those you see trashing the mechanics for wanting to leave are Union officials who stand to lose their cushy posts should the mechanics leave.

Some of the TWU elected officials are already positioning themselves for an AMFA position. An the troops are dumb enough to elect them again.

Rasco, case in point.

7777 Total Signed Election Authorization Cards by Station and Title Group (From system seniority list dated 02-12-2003):
Updated, Saturday September 13, 2003 at 10:40:53 PM. Our goal is to obtain 60% of the Craft and Class of
Mechanic and Related, and at this time, our estimate of that number, with 'elbow room' is approximately 10,000 cards.
Using that number, at this time, we are about 77.7% to our goal, or approximately 48.0% of our Craft and Class. Good job so far, and let's
REDOUBLE our efforts and GET THIS DONE!

So they want to get 12% more with a little more than six months before cards expire.

They only really need 2% more based on the FEB list. Attrition alone could probably give them the 2% needed.

It looks like there is going to be a vote!
