AMFA Mechanics contract.08/ 2012

If there is an open lead spot and if your senority holds it, then it's yours for the taking. Samething with inspector positions if they have an open position you bid it and if you are the senior guy you get it, but you have to take a test for the inspection and if you don't pass you don't get it. So no one is picked by management her at Swa for this positions

Thanks for the info. I see what it is they are trying to do here and I agree, the sooner you get Trebelcock out, the better we will all be. And that's yet another reason why I don't think you should allow most of the current Atlanta stewards to continue being stewards, referencing the committee here. A few of those guys are real brown nosers with T-Cock, buddy buddy, like hanging out away from office hours... Not that those guys are bad guys or anything, but they are strongly influenced by the T-cock! I hope AMFA really steps in and puts a stop to that.

Sorry to continue asking questions but I have another for you. How does the lead position work at SWA?? What I mean is, someone told me that the lead position is a bid position, not an interview position, and that anyone can bid for lead during the annual bid, is this true??

Senoirity will dictate lead bids and inspector bids. Only the insp positions require a test.
You can ask as many questions as you want, you guys are coming into something new. If someone says your bothering them too much, then they can move on somewhere else and not read your questions, ask away... Hope you are passing info onto others at your station. It may be a good idea to get AMFA leadrers to show up and answer some of these questions.

I could be wrong on this but all the AirTran stations are or will be newly created positions(premium positions) on the annual . Which from my understanding all there lead and inspection slots go up for bid system wide. These are considered new bid locations correct?

Here's how it works under our current CBA: The supervisor tells the lead mechanic what he wants, the lead tells the mechanics. The supervisor must go through the lead. If he doesn't , the lead can file a grievance for bypassing him. You must follow the chain of command. Of course, you will always have the few mechanics who will go straight to the supervisor for everything, but that is not how it is supposed to work.

Okay, I see. So the spot doesn't come up for bid every year, once a lead spot is taken, that spot doesn't become availiable to bid unless the lead steps down from said spot. That's the same way it was here, I just heard otherwise and needed clarification. Thanks again guys!

AvTech04- before, you were just pathetic and embarrassing. Continually running your mouth. Were you on the Airtran negotiating committee? Of course not. Being the scab you are, it was so much nicer making your anonymous statements without having to do any of the hard work that the committee was tasked with. They had virtually no Teamsters support, going into a completely unprecedented set of circumstances, and knowing full well that there would be assholes like you waiting in the wings. If anyone is a brown noser these days, it is you. "Let's work this out guys." "I agree with you guys." "Thanks guys!" Pathetic is what you are. But maybe you want to be the new rep for AMFA. And maybe our fraternal brothers across the way are sick of your nose in their ass all the time. It's time for you to be permanently quiet, because now you are pissing people off.

I'm no scab, when he says that he means that I turned against the "brotherhood" here at AirTran. He's also pissed because I threw a Couple of the committee members under the bus with that last comment I made. I know how hard a lot of them worked and I know I would've been part of the committee if Trebelcock wouldn't of hand picked the guys "allowed" to go. Tell me why so many of the committee members where from Atlanta?? I may be derelict in my posts but for all good reason. And the questions that I'm asking are some the ones that should've been addressed during negotiations or a game plan set forth there after, I.e. attendance policy!!

Just a little background history, there's always been a severe disconnect between Atlanta and Orlando, valuejet and original Airtran, it hasn't improved over the years. Atlanta union members run the show under the careful eye of Jim Trebelcock. And all out stations have to deal with whatever the Atlanta guys say, I don't consider that to be a very good union.

I give credit where it's due, I applaud those on the committee that really tried to make a difference, but sit down to those who "didn't want what happened at NWA to happen again". That attitude is what cost us the 4 years. So
Now I'm making do with what I got and trying to move forward to make it better so it doesn't happen again to our new and improved "fraternity"!

Quick response is a good response!! Union is nO longer in t-cocks hands and from what I hear from people that have worked for him in the present and past , well let's say it's not anything good. Sounds like this person does not fit into the southwest model. Any comments from the AirTran guys about this t-cock guy

From what I have been told, his last name says it all. He's also very lucky to have been transfered over to SWA. I have also heard of a pool out there. Just leave it to T-Cock, he will do it to himself just a matter of time.

I thought just the inspection slots will be new? I believe the leads are existing positions, are they not? This is a good question for the annual coming up.

Does anyone know yet what local the Atlanta guys will be in? Is AMFA going to add another local and and redistribute local 18?
