AMFA Mechanics contract.08/ 2012

Thanks for your input guys, and I've heard it both ways. Some say, what I interpreted from the contract, that thereafter is the start of the 6th year and some say that it says thereafter but you get top pay at your 5 year mark. I'm still uncertain. It would be nice of it gave a month range. It's all the same to me and doesn't effect me if it's 5th or 6th year, but, like i stated earlier, a lot of guys are right in that range and they are all uncertain as well..

Do you guys think it might be a station difference or does HR handle everyone's pay raises? What I mean is, for example, maybe the managers in DAL interpret it as 5 year top and other managers from other stations, like BWI, interpret it as 6 year top. If there is a difference in understanding here, that could be why. Just a thought, but please continue the input.

5 years, 5 years, 5years everywhere except for AirTran it's 10 years top .lol no just kidding!!! It's 5 years on the date you where hired

Yes, after you have completed 5 full years.
Which means you get top out on the first day starting your 6th year.

2/1/7 -2/1/08 = 1 year
2/1/8- 2 /1/09 = 2 years
2/1/09- 2/1/10 = 3 years
2/1/10- 2/1/11= 4 years
And on 2/1//12 you top out is that simplified enough for everyone ?

Yes, but all you had to say is you get top pay starting on the first day of your 6th year.

Look at 2001HDSWA his scale is correct and I am correct it's the start of your 5th year. His scale doesn't show 2/1/2011--2/1/2012. And he will hit the there after rate on 2/1/2011. And for you info I got top out on the start of my 5th year as some of the mechanics that IV talked to that have made top out. Go back and check your hire date pay stub and compair it to your 1st top out pay stub.

And your still wrong!!
I am not wrong and you still can't answer my question.

When are they paid the rate listed on the wage scale labeled 5th year?

Let me help you. At the start of their 5th year.

And so when are they paid the thereafter rate?
That's right, you can do it, AT THE START OF THEIR 6TH YEAR.

So you are still an idiot.

Easy guys, no need to argue here. Believe me, I understand the frustration, I've been asked numerous and numerous times what is the top out and when is it and I've been right where you guys are now, is it 5th year or 6th. Most tell me start of 5th but the contract shows start of 6th as thereafter. Maybe if there is anyone from AMFA on this board that can determine the absolutely correct answer then our problem would be solved.

Now you can't even read a forum post correctly.

He clearly wrote that they will tip out on 2/1/12 not 2/1/11 like you wrote.

The beginning of their 6th year after completing a FULL 5 years.

Or you.can ask any 5th year mechanic what his pay is.
It is what is listed on the wage scale beside 5th year.
You have to complete 5 years to top out and receive the thereafter rate.
