Why are they trying to get ride of day trades? That should be interesting

I have not heard anything about the company wanting to get rid of day trading. I will tell you this, it will more than likely be a no starter if they do. I don't think the company cares about us daytrading. For some it is mandatory to trade for commuting, it's also a very valuable perk for using to save VAC, F/H's, as well as sick time. It's also nice to use when you are stuck somewhere, say after a weeks worth of vacation, and you can't fly home due to over booked flights, call the bookies to get someone to work for you.

I have said this in another thread, but it really belongs here. I say we get another LOA covering all of us (SWA/AT), for any future aquisitions, buy-outs, mergers, ect... Getting it now would stand strong and hold in court if it was ever protested.
Her's a suggestion for a pay scale. Keep it @ 4 years in legnth. 5-4-3-2% in raises. And keep the bonus program going increasing it's % to 2%. And also have a 5% signing bonus. Remember, the company kept our retro for the last contract. NEVER should we ever forgo retro. This only allows the company to extend as long as they can without any type of punishment. I don't think they will be dragging their feet this time as they need a single contract asap, and I think the ball is in our court on pay raises if they want to get this done quickly. But, please be ware, the company will retort to the saying, "you guys will have to fund your own raises if you all want one", I call BS to that.
They are still reeping the rewards from last contract we gave them. If they want more lines in Els. then they can increase all above mentioned numbers to 5% across the board.

IV heard Suckhole talk about day trades being an issue they ate strongly looking at sooooo bewhere!!! Also I don't want to see another LOA for protection like we had, I want to see it in our contract under an artical as that will hold up in court and protect All SWA AMFA members and remember the AT mechanics are now AMFA/SWA members!! Yes must get retro and I say a pay increase to UPS wages of $57.50 hr.

Your right, it would be better in the contract not on an LOA. And yes I was including the AT guys, as far as I am concerned we are are all one group. DT's are a quality of life we will not lose. I, for one example, use them now and then, but it is nice that they are there. Are you sure about UPS's top out? I may have missed a contract, but I thought they were at 51 and some change per hour. Hell, time flies, and I may have missed that they did another.

What is your feelings on going any longer as far as years? I was thinking we should stay with 4 yrs and maybe even going with 5 yrs if need be. Part of my reasons are; these dates fall to 16 and 17 where we will have a better picture of 2 things, how we are doing after the W/A goes away in 14 as well as how our international flts are doing. I would also like to see something for early retirement. Most guys are stuck here now just for insurance, would like to see an encentive to retire early with say 5 yrs of ins, including spouses/partner ins extended. We also need to readdress the A/C count for another line of in house maint. if not two. As we have all seen, SWA is more than happy to build G.O. buildings and office space for workers, I think it's time they add another hangar to handle a couple more lines of maint.

Already have two added hangers one in Atlanta and the other in Orlando. What are they going to be used for or not. Yes ups top out pay is 50.75

I think and history shows a shorter contract is always better. And by short I mean 2-4 years. I'd love to see ins for our retired mechanics. But that is a huge expense but I'm all for it. I use day trades every week of the year and no matter what the pay is if they touch the DT option we have I will be a no vote then. DT is a must for me. I'm also big and I agree with more hangar space for increased MX

Correct on the 2 added hangers from AT. I was refering to aded heavy maint hangars. Just like the 4th line coming to Dallas. The 2 hangars you mention above we are hearing will be used for ron, ots, and even some talk on "C" checks being done as well.

Okay, we need ultimate clarification here. I've asked original SWA mechs before and was given the answer to this but I'm being questioned of this do often that I'm beginning to doubt myself. What is the AMFA top out? I mean, web exactly is it? The day you hit 5 years or the day you complete 5 years, or your sixth year? And what exactly is the top out again? There are a lot of 5-6 year guys that keep asking these questions and keep questioning the contract so clarification would be great please and thank you.

You start getting top pay on the first day of your 6th year.
If you look at the wage scale it is the thereafter rate.

Your wrong you get top out at the start of your 5th year I deal with this often with mechanics that are just topping out

That part of the contract is a little misleading. So if you are at 5 years last week you will be at the their after rate + longgevity(if applicable) + shift differential+ lic premium.

No I am not wrong.
No one has received top out until they have COMPLETED 5 full years.
The contract wage scale clearly shows 5th year pay and then the thereafter rate which is for years 6 and beyond. Top out starts on the first day of your 6th year just like I said.
It is nice to hear that you are mis-leading all those guys just topping out.

Oh really?
So if they get the thereafter rate at the beginning of their 5th year, when will they be on the 5th year rate listed on the wage scale brainiac? At the start of their 4th year?

By your logic they will be on the 2nd year pay at the start of their 1st year.

You need to open a contract booklet and read it again.
