I think avtech's idea of converting an amount of sick to PTO is a good idea. That way you still keep separate sick and vacation time. If it were to go PTO, they might want to lump vac and sk together.

Swadl under what in the contract did they grieve backfilling inspectors under? I did not know this!!!! I would think if they won it . It should be for all groups don't u think
Avtech04 - I like your PTO idea. Also we do need to have a minimum coverage plan. The inspectors won an arbitration on that and now there OT is unlimited. Any time an inspector is schueduled and is not at work(ie: vac, sick, floaters, OJI) they must backfill their shift. And another thing it would be nice to get POG time like Delta but at our choice. Let's say if OT is offered I personally not mgt can decried to get an extra day off in lue of getting OT pay. Basically I'd forgo pay for the OT shift to get an extra pd day off when I choose. Or I could decide to get the OT pay instead of the POG day off. Understand??? Anyways cheers!!
How about setting minimum coverage for shifts? I read through the contract and saw that they have to cover the man hours for scheduled work but what about days and swing shift? It seems like management can set the minimum coverage per day however they want, what it we put in writing the minimum day shift and swing shift staff needed per day. For examples, for 50 flights a day, the minimum you need is, let's say 4 mechanics on duty for day and 4 for swings. 75 flights a day, you need 5 minimum. 100 flights you need 6 and so on and so on. That way they are forced to have coverage even if it involves overtime.
We are talking about the 2012 contract negotiations. I'm putting it out there that the DOM for the east coast has a heavy influence in the current Atlanta Stewards, specifically one of them, and maybe that's not such a good thing for negotiations or a future vote. At least we now have Cramer to represent us over here now...
And just to clarify, I'll take a bullet for every union brother except the ones that are sleeping with the upper management! That to me is the definition of a scab, a union member in bed with the upper management that we're supposed to be negotiating our contract with!! Did you know, the last AT contract took 3 days of negotiations?? Our Chief Steward, at that time, was heavy into Trebelcocks ass! The sad part about it was that he would sell it to the members like it was "the best we could do", same thing he did when they shut down TPA MX for AT!!!
Name call all you'd like, that merely shows how immature and childish you are. Analyze and take all of my post out of context, I don't care! My point is getting across regardless. NO more of the SAME ####!! Don't bring that infectious mentality to SWA, leave it at AT and move on!
I'm done with these guys, like SWAMT said, lets stay on topic, opinions on OUR future contract!!
I would definitely vote down anything that limits us from using our earned sick time with penalty.

Well fortunately for him, and you for that matter, if the time ever comes and you or avtech4 needs an AMFA steward at any of our stations, that steward who got 4 years from you will vigorously defend both of you.AvTech04 aka DT from Orlando , because he does nothing but post on a forum and when its time to express your opinion all he does is sit quietly in the shawdows. I bet you would cross a picket line in a heart beat because you don't stand for anything, during these negotiations you've done nothing but go back and forth and jumped on everyone's side.(AT's and SWA's) Now your calling out a fellow AT union brother that has done nothing but fight for everyone that he works with, even when they were wrong. I hope the time never comes when you need a stewards help, because that one is sure not going to help you. To me it sounds like your in bed with the same guys that just took 4 years from you, you scab!!!!
