Apparently american airlines does not want binding arbitration. the tried and true method works the best, other airlines have used it and it works the best! gotta love aa they can spin things with out equal!

Which airline employed binding arbitration during the section 1113 process of their bankruptcy case? US? UA? NW? DL?
 
Obviously they are saying they prefer to have the judge grant their wish list.I don't think anyone expected them to accept arbitration in the first place.
 
Well, duh. Arbitrators have been known to leave a crumb or two for the employees on occasion. We can't have that now, can we?

No.

Unfortunately for the employees, bankruptcy is used solely for the survival of the company. Judges do look at long term viability in their decisions, but short term pain is a given.

Long term improvements in the aftermath are left up to the employee's or their representatives. I the case of non-union companies, the employees are left to decide for themselves whether they can fare better somewhere else, or if it is worth it to ride it out.

In a collective bargaining situation, the union is left with very little to bargain with. A disgruntled, less productive workforce who is pissed off at the company and the union, does not strengthen their position.

More importantly, which unions have used binding arbitration with the company to settle a contract during the past 10 years? How about in the past 20 years?

Maybe it's just the fact that I had too much to drink last night, but I can't think of any. Unions have used it to settle seniority issues (e.g. USAir pilots, Kasher award) but I can't think of too many cases where a full contract has gone to arbitration.

It would be nice if the company would do the right thing and do baseball arbitration. Reading the airline charts show AA mechanics at the bottom now just above US Air. Roger Staunch should be the first to stand up for American workers as his education was paid for by US taxpayers.

The company will try and do the right thing by righting this sinking ship. And do you really trust anyone in the TWU to arbitrate on your behalf if they can't get you a consensual agreement?? Phat Don's busy making side deals, Gless is busy stealing your money, Little is busy at writing letters to the NMB.......and, Staubach is busy helping AA tear apart our CBA so your wages will be at the BOTTOM. Did I miss anything???

It is the right thing to do because they have mismanaged this airline for the last 10 years... Management has profited off our backs and run this airline into the ground... It's time to trim the real fat, not screw over the frontline workers again and again... None of the people negotiating for the company give a rats ass about AA being a reputable airline any more. As long as they get rich and bank it... FYI : Horton and his wife are their way to LHR on 78 riding positive space first class (wonder if any EP's were bumped) tonight to go stay in the corporate townhouse!
