AA never had much presence on the East until the merger with US.
They did in BOS, DCA, LGA, MIA, RDU.

Even provided service to SJU from EWR/IAD/PHL, and did EWR-EGE seasonally.

but outside of that AA never had much of an East presence   SJU was their hub for yrs until they dismantled that.   Youre quick to knock US and its unions but you need to know it was not long ago that they nailed SJU RDU and BNA    guess who took over BNA and RDU--WN    CLT will continue its growth  esp domestically regardless what DL nbr one cheer leader says

BOS, DCA, MIA, NYC, and RDU are all in the east.  BDL too has been a strong market for AA, where AA is lacking is throughout New England (ex-BOS) in places like BGR, BTV, MHT, PVD, and PWM.

Let's face it facts continue to obscure some people

Just because their might be a crew base in some city like atl does not mean it makes economical sense

ATL is a satellite crew base, it doesn't cost the company anything, it just allows F/As living there to structure their trips to commence and terminate at that airport.

Yep the silly USAIR management closed their BOS base in 2010, which apparently they regret doing and on-time performance on the DCA shuttle has gotten worse since they no longer have reserve crews and aircraft.

i never said i was a fan of CLT   i only have been saying that CLT is ripe for growth and gave my own opin  and why it is a better alternative to ATL   CLT will retain some INTL flights  and it will grow more domestic flights too..   the one hub I see that's going to suffer a lot is PHX  much more so than CLT   CLT is basically the ATL of the South for the new AA   we can hash about that pax going from SAV to RIC   thru CLT rather than back tracking to ATL or south to MIA or west to DFW

I guess that's my point.  Why do you guys believe that CLT is ripe for growth?  While CLT may be able to handle them...where are all these passengers going to magically appear from?

If you were to argue that there'll be an increase in international flights...that's something you would expect to bring in more traffic.  But just about everyone on here agrees, except 700UW, that CLT won't increase INTL...and most believe it will be reduced.

So, where do you US people believe the paxs will manifest from?  From the AA hubs?  US has had plenty of service to AA hubs over the years...so where's the additional passengers from?  You think you're going to steal them from ATL?  What has changed that would allow you do that?

Seriously? That's just too ignorant to even respond to...

I suspect there's going to be more shifting of flow traffic away from CLT than to CLT.

E  US and DL have historically have been the strongest in the EAST  whereas AA has been in the Midwest and West.   That's what im saying  its not ignorant  Yess AA has had BOS as a hub type for yrs  not sure what it is now but even so MHT BDL PVD theyre there but not half the size of what US and DL had or have

Not going to agree with you. AA's historical presence in DCA/LGA/JFK/BOS is hardly insignificant. They've consistently been one of the top airlines at LGA since before deregulation.

They may not have served every airport in a town with a Waffle House, but that's also not where the money is made.

AA has reduced BOS and JFK, US flies to more European cities from PHL than AA does from JFK. Does AA even flly BOS to Europe anymore? I know they cut out LHR.

E  I did know AA had a large ops at BOS and JFK   Where did they stand at LGA before the merger....   EWR they were not that big were they?

Yes offers service to CDG, LHR, and MAD.

LHR and MAD are operated by joint venture partners British Airways and Iberia, respectively, and CDG is operated seasonally.
