BRIEFING FOR 2-22-19

ASSOCIATION: Since we have no negotiations to update this week, I want to take a few minutes to discuss some issue and remarks that I have either been asked or have read or heard about the association. And let me now apologize if I offend anyone out there with my words. Well second thought, no I do not apologize. In fact if any of you out there don't like what is said, please contact me on my cell at 704 - 860 - 1802 and Ill gladly take you off of this briefing, because its time we quit crying about certain things about the association and come together as one fighting group.

DOES THE TWU AND IAM GET ALONG: Ill make this as clear as I can. Yes we do! Does that mean we don't have disagreements on things? No. Of course we have disagreements just like any organization made up of different people from different areas with different issues relevant to their stations and locations. However being part of more than one negotiating team, I can tell you, this is normal and expected.

I don't care if your IAM reading this, or TWU reading this. Its time we quit our crying about the things we don't like about the association, and realize the association is what we are and its what we are going to be in these negotiations. Our negotiations are at a critical point for all of us, and we need to realize who our enemy is. The enemy is not the association negotiating team.

At one point or another we have all had to bend over and take it from this company. If your IAM, we went through two bankruptcies that we had it shoved up our you know what. If your TWU, basically the same. Only one official bankruptcy, but basically two with your 2003 give backs. So we have all been through the same battles. And now this company is still wanting for us to bend over for more. I urge and ask all of you that read this. Stop listening to the cry babies about the association, and know that we are together as a unified group. And lets fight our battle against this company together as one. Its your choice, you can listen to them, with their only agenda in trying to bring this work group down. Or you can listen to your negotiating team, that is there, and that is trying to keep you as informed as possible. I know some will criticize this briefing, and say its too rah rah. Well maybe if you feel that way, you should be one of the members to text me to get off of the briefing.

WE NEED TO DO MORE TO SHOW THAT WE ARE UNIFIED: We have heard you, and you have my word we will start doing a better job of this. I have just today spoke with some of the TWU brothers on a conference call to do more unified events.

There will be info picketing coming up in several of our largest stations. But let me say this. I don't care if we are in clt picketing or phl picketing and its all IAM, or if we are in DFW, or ORD picketing and its all TWU. We are all picketing as the association. We will also at our respective stations that we can, be more unified in walking the properties and briefing break rooms together.

WWW. AAShouldcare.com: Many of you have asked me, what can I do, or what can we do as a work group to help. Well first continue to support the negotiating team. I can assure you we are solid and determined more than ever to bring back a leading industry contract.

Also I have spoke with TWU VP brother Brian Parker today about a website that I am asking all of you to go to. The TWU put together a very informative website called AAshouldcare.com. It addresses in it many of our concerns as an association. Concerns like job outsourcing, security, and safety. All these issues are huge issues for all of us as well as the traveling public. SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?? I am asking every person that reads this briefing to please go to this website. There is a link on the page that ask you to SIGN THE PETITION. And again, like I said, it is very well done and very informative. I am asking all of you that read this briefing to please go to this site and click on the sign the petition link and fill it out. I want to also ask all IAM brothers and sisters that if you would please beside your name, if you would just put in parentheses ( IAM ) so our TWU brothers and sisters can know we are there also. I ask all of you to show your solidarity and take a couple of minutes to go to this page. Everyone needs to sign this, in order to send a strong message to the company. Please show your support and do your part.

I will keep everyone posted on upcoming dates for picketing and other things. It takes some time for some stations to get permits for the picketing. So don't look for this until sometime in March. Thanks everyone. I hope we can all come together and fight the enemy together.

EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD AND SAFE WEEK

Buck you got guys in AMFA getting paid more than they would if they were just turning a wrench. Are you saying because they make more they’re ripping people off too?

I remember when you guys were screaming because you had no Representative for AMT’s in the Executive Negotiations. So the International added Gary.

I remember when you guys were screaming because you had no Representative for AMT’s in the TWU International. So the International made Gary an International Rep (Because of his hard work BTW)

So what’s your next complaint? What do you need next that once you get it you’ll complain about it?

First I am not a member of AMFA.
That being said if an Officer is getting to going rate and is performing his/her duty that is the baseline. In my and many other union members opinions Gary Petersen was performing better as a local president. What has he done or any other TWU officer since the Association?
How does anyone know if the officers at the international do a good job and if there was a system to indicate this we are not large enough to accomplish any change. It is and has always been that outside of the Air Division that control everything constitutionally at the convention level, so our only option and we have tried the by the book, is to disassociate ourselves from this type of unionism.

From what I understand because I’ve seen his name attached to letters here and there. His responsibilities have been expanded to include other represented areas within the TWU. I think I’ve seen his name attached to items regarding the JetBlue FA’s?

You know though in all fairness you have the right to ask. You should send him an E-Mail and ask him what his responsibilities are today or tell Dale you want the International Leadership to come to TUL and be at one of your meetings. I’m 100% positive they will oblige.

What I do is watch the TWU Website, watch for news items regarding the TWU, monitor their organizing campaigns and watch the yearly released DOL LM2’s to see how they’re managing our (My) money.

And by being a supporter I’ve also gained phone numbers to be able to ask them directly what the hell they’re doing.

BTW you do realize that Jim Little came from the Air Division, Alex Garcia and Mike Mays are AA, and the TWU is almost as large in Airlines as they are in Bus and Rail. (Might be even larger than them now)

Think about who the TWU Represents. Fleet and Maintenance at AA, Fleet and FA’s and others at SWA and now 6000 FA’s at JetBlue.

Mark at this point actions speak louder then words and the iam has a LOT to do. The problem that we have with the association is the lack of action and support from the iam. For example where was the support from the iam for the air 121 at aa and southwest? Where was the support for the flight attendants recently?
I saw a picture of samuleson the apfa and the apa, where was the iam? Yes the iam has a lot to prove that you are a "partner" or an associate. If your a partner act.like it. If you choose to be an associate there comes a point that our interest seperate and i have no need to associate.

Yup. Talk is cheap!

Yup. Talk is cheap!

I have watched, looked and listened for almost 35 years.
I thought with the latest group of local officers atv514 and possibly 591were going to make a difference. However with the IAM pulling their negotiating BS and the TWU rolling over, the white flag was out. The TWU International is the same as ever leaving the Air Division out and at American, the Mechanics the minority voting Bloc. I am still not sure why the other than dues
why the TWU needs to keep them on.

i can hear his violin playing. Charlie Brown is all talk. Dude knifed us all in the back by recommending the United agreement then he he told here, "United wont affect us". Then he stabbed us again and went for the cash grab instead of a jcba. Then he gave himself a $30,000 raise up to $151,000.
Dude is worse than Frank Lorenzo. Fairbanks actually created a real life Frankenstein monster.

I wonder if maybe us LAA types would have case against the AFL-CIO for ecouraging this abomination known as the Association to our detriment. We were denied a vote on the matter of accepting this huge mistake. It; at the very least, is costing us at least $10K per year. On the high side, probably over $30K per year in losses. At this point, of over 33 years of literally one concessionary contract after another, (save for the one AMFA inspired contract), we have heard every lame excuse from the Union and Company. Most of us do not believe either one; quite simply, because they both have their own self serving agendas. Both are secretive in what has been negotiated, offered, and rejected.

Essentially, pay increases, and our benefits being restored, are being held hostage for future headcount. Since the chances of retro pay are next to nil, how many more years can we afford to "Do Without"? This economy is on a tightrope as it is. All it's gonna take - is some of these "Green Type Politicians" to gain more control in congress, and we are collectively screwed. So, lets keep rolling the dice. The window of opportunity is closing.

Of course we’ll get retro but I’ll ask you now.

What if those Mechanics back in the 40’s through the 70’s thought the same way and left you guys no decent paying jobs to walk into because they sold all of you out back then? (PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION)

"Fighting" Baskett and "Pinky" Nelson.
Two and one of the same.
The IAM is playing the TWU.
Maybe the "Fighting" Machinists can put out a second video to their last one from EIGHT months ago when those old white Philly dudes came out of the hangar fists barely waiving and mumbling something about "we so baaad." This while drooling on those (if its free its for me) ASSociation t-shirts.

I can answer the question in the 40s to early 70s unions were powerhouses. Until inflation hit. The TWU IAM , Teamsters did not sell out the Airlines. President Carter and the democrats sold out Airline labor with the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978, and bankruptcy and failure followed after that.

If it wasn’t for the merger and the Association, you wouldn’t have gotten a 24% raise and you’d just be starting Section 6 Negotiations.
And you know this how? Is this your opinion or you have something in hand to prove your comment?

I'll answer your question with a question.

Were there opportunities to do any selling out back then?
