American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Hearing they are very very close, all that’s left is health insurance, pension, compensation and scope.

Surely you can't be suggesting the TWU membership? They are not interested in making an effort to better themselves.

Just hoping they have had enough. For God sake WTF does it take for you AA mechs to get a fking clue?!

The phrase used was, there will be "no regression" on either side.

Also, the mediators are out. Instead they are negotiating with NMB board members.

They are; in fact, negotiating today.

As of 9:30 this morning, no dates set for next week.

NMB does not work Thanksgiving week.

Association denies attempts at settling the lawsuit in contract negotiations.

Many are suspicious of these negotiations being nothing more than a ruse to appease the members to not disrupt operations during peak holiday travel. I tend to believe this.

It's all a front. And exactly what I said it was. They just want you boys to be mellow during the holidays. That's why the rumors of nego's are going strong.

Gag Order.

F-U and the gag order. The gag order is BS and you know it. It's just a suggestion of the NMB NOT forced, and both parties agreed. Again the NMB cannot order anyone to do anything. Get a clue people.

Stop with the gag order. They can update without divulging the contents of the talks. They gave us a lengthy update prior to the Nov. 1st "next steps" update.

So, stop using that as an excuse. It isn't like the updates were robust when they were ignoring the gag order last spring.

Exactly NYer, I just slammed him on the gag order he keeps constantly referring to and using as a tool for the asso to NOT give any info.

They have to run it by the NMB before they release anything that contains details.

And your point? We too had that very same "gag order" you speak of. All has to be approved before release. And you know what? Our union "AMFA" was proactive and got every single one approved and released to the membership. Has this asso. even tried to get something approved and released thru the NMB out to the membership???

I will say both sides did agree to a gag order so to speak. I will say there has been ongoing dialogue for awhile now. As to updates, I understand the frustration I have read on various pages as to the lack of more specific information on the status of negotiations, however, it isn’t to piss anyone off, it’s to get to the end zone.

P.Rez, you are at least being honest here in your post. You at least say that both sides "did agree to the gag order" asked by the NMB. I will tell you our union did the very same thing, BUT we were given an option, just as you guys have, to give updates with the approval of the NMB. So now I ask you, did your nego cmte supply any kind of an update to present to the membership, for approval from the NMB to be released??? And did the company offer the same??? If they did not, then why not??? I know the rules and regs around the gag order that YOU the ASSO. and the CO> are being asked by the NMB to follow, but guess what? You really don't have to, it's only suggested. Our union did in fact still give detailed nego's updates WITH the approval of the NMB and shortly later the NMB stopped asking for the approval process as it just took up too much of their time.
So I ask you again. Has anyone from the nego cmte or co ever asked or submitted an update to be released to the membership???

then what has been the intention of the top secret negotiations for the last 3 years? EVERYONE admits there is a communication issue from peterson,schiable,halter and shop stewards but nothing is done about it. again i say the association has had their opportunity and has done everything possible to squander it and alienate the membership. the days of blind obedience and trust were killed when the association was conceived in deceit. saying those people are gone and we are changing is simply untrue, the organization is out of touch and unresponsive to its membership.

So FIRE them!

I stated talks were occurring for awhile now and a TWU local posted that as well which was posted on here. What I don’t know is what the NMB will be willing to schedule in the near future. I don’t know their schedule or when they may break for the holidays. From past negotiations experience, I can state that the amount of meetings scheduled over the last month and a half is very encouraging.

How’s it feel to have been bounced from the industry under a cloud of suspicion AFTER selling out your entire class/craft?

That was funny. He didn't even realize he negotiated away his entire craft. But it got worse. Some things were missing at the Local. A phone speaker inadvertly was left on after a call to management and it recorded his buddy saying some things that led to a suspension. His buddy was eventually moved up in the IAM. But the criminal on here was lucky and told to leave otherwise there would have to be an investigation into the unrecovered dabbling.

Peterson told the LAX local that the NMB was willing to meet over this weekend as well and that more dates are scheduled. Obviously, the idea, from the NMB perspective, is to get this wrapped up or lend some hope during the holidays to keep any potential disruption down.
