American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Part of the responsibility in negotiations, and in representation, is to get the best you can. It also entails avoiding things getting worse.

Overplay you hand and you lose more even more than where you currently stand.

First of all there are no Association members.
Two why does a non-AA employee who also is not an IAM member nor a TWU member care?

It works both ways.

Just FYI. This is what it looks like and reads like when a "REAL" union gets progress done for their members. And lets not forget, they are representing way more than double what the asso. is at AA. They are around 50,000 represented, give or take. And just look at the time frame it took to get er done. Maybe you guys need to fire this asso and go with the UAW!!!

The only similarity I see is the Five in Five weeks except with us it can easily be Five Years.

The Railway Labor Act is a problem. It allows the company to just drag their ass since they know being able to strike is almost non existent. That being said, the Association has been terrible for the LAA people from the get go. The LUs guys got a decent deal out of it so at least someone did. Good for them that the IAM looked out for their interests. The TWU is a different story. Hope the UAW people did well.

How long did you guys take?

Unfortunately the government doesn’t give a damn if a car company strikes, airlines ? Now that’s another story

Swamt. The road shows for us wld be the DFW LAX CLT JFK DCA MIA PHX. May be ATL n other mainline cities. Thats my guess

You guys crack me up talking about aips, roadshows , implementation schedules,, blah, blah, blah. How about the freaking stupid f'n negotiators get their stupid shite done first, which is what? 4+ years into it?

We are much smaller than you guys as far as the amount of cities needed to be visited for the RS (road shows) Our NC set aside 8 weeks and I think they finished in 6 weeks for all stations and cities. Would't yours take even longer?
AIP will come first IMO, then the top leadership will vote rather to bring it out for a vote or not, if they vote to do so then it becomes a T/A as long as they bless it or maybe endorse it. If something comes out this month or next I really don't see the road shows doing any good thru the holidays. Maybe they will fire up the RS after the holidays and therefore might quite possibly take until April. Ot maybe April is their (co) absolute farthest out they want as it is right before the busy summer travel season yet again???

Does anyone really believe there will be any road shows explaining an A.I.P. before a vote? You will be lucky to see final contract language. What we do get will probably be bullet points, but given the benefit of the doubt that it is contract language it will be presented by our local reps that were not in the negotiation room anyway. Any questions about the contract will be deferred to the negotiating committee which will be nowhere to be found.

I heard the NMB meetings will continue on the week of Oct 21. per our union leaders. Hopefully it will close out soon.
Just out of curiosity there were 4 things left, scope, benefits, pay and retirement.
Pay and retirement should be easy. Profit sharing me too with the pilots.
Benefits me too with the pulots.
That leaves scope. What the **** have they been doing the last 4 years?
